I've been trying different tapes, and so far this is my least favorite. My primary use has been blister prevention, but I've also tried it as a kinesio tape, to see if might help at all with some elbow tendonitis. I didn't like it very much for either purpose.First, the tape has virtually no stretch, which makes it tough to get it to fit curved and moving parts of the body (heels, ankles) without the tape pulling and wrinkling.Second, when I used a large strip on my arm, to test the whole kinesio tape idea, after 24 hours I developed a hideous case of contact dermatitis under the leukotape.A similar sized strip of rocktape caused no irritation at all. The rocktape also stretches, which makes it easier to apply to feet for blister prevention. The advantages to the leukotape are that there's no paper backing, so it's quicker to apply. And there's less waste. And it's a bit cheaper. But since it does its job poorly, and gives me angry red welts, I won't be buying it again for anything. 1Leuko Tape Caused Bad RashI have been using this tape on my heels for about one month, leaving it on for 1-2 days at a time about once a week. I never had any problems until a week ago, when wore it for 3 days in a row. Mind you, I had no problems at all while wearing it, but one hour after I had taken it off, I noticed that my heels were itchy. The first day I thought maybe it was bug bites but then I noticed that I had hives/red swollen bumps on both of my heels in the same spots where the tape had been adhered. I had developed a very bad reaction where the tape was with hives that has lasted 4 days and counting. I have needed to ice the location and apply anti itch cream to the areas with little to no relief. I need to avoid hot showers, sun, warm temperates, shoes, and socks. It has been very annoying and it has even affected my sleep because it has been so itchy and painful. I have no known allergies so this has been a shock to me. I am hoping that this review helps someone in a similar situation or to make Leuko aware of what their product can cause. 1good insoles, and high-quality wool socksMiracle cure for blisters. If you are a hiker or a runner, this is a must-have. I carried about thirty inches of this with me on a section hike of the Appalachian Trail earlier this year, and in a week it was all gone, tending to other hiker's feet, almost all of which had never heard of it. Used with well-fitting and properly-laced boots, good insoles, and high-quality wool socks, your feet will thank you. 5Absolute gold on the hiking trailI found out this stuff is perfect as second skin for blisters or treating hot spots on your feet so that you never get blisters. I only wished I had discovered this stuff sooner. Not only is it thinner than mole skin, but it actually stays in place even after it gets wet. It is incredibly sticky, it even tends to stick to your socks. So you have to be careful applying to loose skin where a blister is or once was, because if you aren t careful when removing it you will remove the skin with it. This stuff got me through several sore miles on the trail, and I will always keep t in my pack from now on. 5Not allergic to Latex, had an allergic reaction...Used on a thru hike for blister prevention and it did well in that respect. Sticks very well and acts as a "second skin" to protect from chafing. Stayed on and worked well even after spontaneous dips into ponds/rivers followed by more hiking. My complaint is that after the hike (nothing happened during for some reason) I broke out in a terribly itchy rash that almost looked like a chemical burn. I'm not allergic to latex so my thought is that it's something in the adhesive. I did apply it in the morning, and remove it upon entering camp almost everyday for 25 days but the rash and itchiness continued for nearly 2 weeks. Very unpleasant. Nothing like glowing red rectangles on your skin to celebrate a thru hike. Yay... 32018 UPDATE!!!!I am honestly saddened. I have relied on luekotape for my blister needs since I thru hiked the PCT in 2016. I ordered some more for my CDT thru hike and it seems they have changed the adhesive that makes leukotape so great. It no longer leaves any residue on the skin which might be the only plus. The cons:-Can no longer be applied over sweaty skin-lasts about 2-3 days before it begins to peel instead of the week or two before-barely holds to bareskin ie palm of hand or bottom foot-no longer waterproof-no longer stays on easily when removing socks (before I could take my socks on and off without paying any attention)I've been a user of great products before that went through a design change but this has to be the biggest disappointment. I can only HOPE that I got a bad roll or that this will be reversed. 1... it will dry without coming loose which for someone like me who tapes his feet because of Plantar Faciitis ...Tape works very well and you can actually shower with it on and it will dry without coming loose which for someone like me who tapes his feet because of Plantar Faciitis issues it saves me time and money on re-taping. 5UpdateI bought this for taping my feet when backpacking and hiking. It is a great preventive. It stays put and keeps me from getting hotspots and blisters. The one downside is that the zinc oxide adhesive actually bleeds through to the socks. Getting that adhesive out of the sock requires goo gone or even lighter fluid!!!Update: I recently ordered a second roll as my original roll was dwindling. I loved the function of the first roll, it was very sticky and basically bombproof. I'd put it on my heels and hike for days on end and the leukotape never budged and I never got blisters. The new roll has almost no stickiness and does not last on my heels for 10 minutes before it's loose and under my foot inside the sock. I purchased another roll from a local pharmacy, and a third roll from an online pharmacy. None of the three rolls will stay adhered during hikes anymore. They are noticeably different from my original roll and I think the adhesive formula has changed. Highly disappointing. 1Last year on a 40 mile trip we took in the Wind Rivers I suffered the worst blisters of my lifeI am an avid backpacker. Unfortunately I am also very prone to blisters on my feet. The last 4 years I have tried everything to prevent and/or stop blisters. Last year on a 40 mile trip we took in the Wind Rivers I suffered the worst blisters of my life. I wore 2 pair of socks, I used Mole Skin, I used band aids, I wore my shoes every day for a year before the trip, I did everything I could think of. It was all useless. This year we planned an 80 Mile trip across the Uinta Mountains. I searched the internet for ways to assure that I would NOT get any blisters as that would be miserable on a tip this size. I ultimately went with Leukotape. I was skeptic at first because not many of the reviews were from backpackers, but after the first day i was hooked. I ended up almost completely wrapping my feet. After 5 days of hiking through water, snow, hail, sun and up to 13,000ft peaks, etc... the tape never came off. Honestly it hardly even moved on my skin at all. (it sticks like duck tape) the ONLY blister I got was on the very last day when we pushed 20 miles to make it out. It was on one of the few toes that i did not wrap. I was very very very pleased with how this turned out. The other guys in my party ended up using it and being very grateful I had brought it. I will never backpack without it again. The only downside I can see to it (not enough to not give it 5 stars) is how sticky it is. When i finally pulled the tape off, it ripped all the hair off my feet and even a small piece of skin. But that was all well worth it to save myself the pain of blistered feet! 5Prevent blisters / Make your own bandaidsUsed this to prevent blisters while hiking/swimming on vacation - nothing like water+heat+walking to make blisters. This stayed on all day, even in seawater. Now we use it to make our own bandaids, cutting a piece of gauze pad and a piece of tape to the sizes required, so much cheaper and a better result. A backpacking site recommended cutting some of the tape to desired sizes and affixing to the glossy backing of a sheet of stickers and we did this. The tape peeled off well. This is now a staple in home, car, and gear. 5
