Customer Reviews

controlled my blood pressure!I have successfully lowered my blood pressure by using this supplement to my diet. I use about a 1/4 teaspoon daily with apple cider vinegar with water. Avoiding drugs to manage my BP is a huge relief for me! I highly recommend Bulk Supplements for providing an amazing value. 5Best treatment I found for leg cramps and edema.I am a 66 y.o. retired doctor. In 2016 I had a severe case of shingles. I was basically immobilize for weeks. One morning I woke up with a swollen right leg. Thinking it might be a blood clot I went to the ER. After an ultrasound, I was diagnosed with venous stenosis. I was put on a diuretic and Lyrica for the pain. After 7 months the edema became to spread and I put on 30pounds and began to get severe foot cramps. My internist ordered an echocardiogram which came back normal. I asked him about my electrolytes which were normal. I did quite a bit of research and my symptoms sounded a lot like hypokalemia. I ordered this supplement and within a few weeks my symptoms began to subside. It has now been 2 months taking 1.5 tsp with different types of Wyler s drink flavorings with 16 oz of water which I drink throughout the day. I now off the Lyrics, lost 12 pounds, and with compression stockings, the edema and cramp have almost disappeared. I sleep better and I take much less meds for my hypertension. My internist who is my same age never recommended potassium supplementation if the lab work is normal. His only comment was that if it seems to be working, keep on doing what you re doing. 5A product that actually works! What a concept...Hello this info is based on my experience, you be the judge. 2 years ago my doctor told me I had a potassium deficiency and told me to eat more potassium based foods....I increased my intake of a banana a day and avacado's when I remembered and yet my potassium levels were 3.2 when normal is 3.6 - 5.0 or so. when checked again 2 months later my count was no 3.1 and I had started to experience mild depression (which I never attributed to Potassium loss) and toe cramps and later finger cramps which can be painful. Long story short I tried potassium pills I found over the counter and more potassium based food with no results. Finally I came across Bulk Supplements on their site but did not want to wait a week or so, I needed help now! I turned to my beloved Amazon and to my delight they carried the product I was looking for Potassium Citrate, I received the product in 2 days and got started on my journey back to Superior health! I put a half a teaspoon in my daily smoothie or In a cup of hot water every morning and pretend it's tea. I did this for 6 weeks and went to get a blood test. I am very happy to report my levels are back in the normal range of 3.6, not more depression and no more finger or toe cramps and I am grateful. I am now here again to buy the bigger bag 500grams because I know this product worked for me. I know it will work for you. Start with a low amount of 1/8 of a teaspoon, then a 1/4 and work up to 1/2 teaspon (2.5ml) until you find whats works for you. Men ..you are bigger and may need more but don't start out with a lot more only what you need and it is important to note more is not always better if a little dab'll do you. Gotta go now its time to buy another bag while Amazon is offering next day delivery! lol 5Very ImpressedI am thoroughly impressed with this product. The potassium citrate dissolves in water almost instantly upon pouring it in. Little or no stirring is required. It doesn't have much of a taste, so it's not unpleasant to drink in just water. I actually mix it with a Bulk Supplements magnesium citrate which doesn't mix as easily. Even then, it's still palatable. (I chug it down anyway, but it wouldn't be awful if I took my time with it either AND you can mix it in a smoothie or protein shake or whatever.)Against their precautionary warnings on dosage, I use about a teaspoon per day. I've had intermittent problems with cramps in my gastrocnemius and soleus (calf muscles) ever since I was put on a prescription medication called Accutane about 18 years ago. I started running 3 months ago, and the gastroc cramps have occurred in the middle of a run and forced me to limp home the rest of the way, stretching every 20 feet or so. Some mornings, when I first wake up and stretch in bed, the calf cramps will hit me and I just want to scream because my calf muscle(s) start automatically tightening painfully.I use an app to track my diet...calories, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, nutrients, etc. I paid particular attention to my daily potassium intake, and even with bananas and potassium pills, I was still coming short of the RDA of about 3,500 mg per day. I was lucky to get 2,500 mg/day on my best day. So I decided to give this product a try.I received it earlier this week and I've been on it for about 4 days. I haven't had the chance to run this week, but I'll update this review in the future to let you know if the calf cramps have stopped which I fully expect.UPDATE 09/11/2014: I have not had a calf cramp while running since I began using this product. I haven't tested the effect with stretching upon waking; I avoid plantarflexion during that morning stretch out of fear cramps will occur. But the running is the more functional activity I was having problems with. Now, I don't have that problem. Cause and effect of potassium citrate consumption? I don't know. But I can't think of any other things in my diet that have changed much since I started using it, so I tend to credit the potassium citrate for it.Some supplements work, some supplements don't, some take a long time to realize the benefit. This appears to be one of the few that works immediately. Again, I would highly recommend this product.UPDATE: 12/02/2014: I ordered another package of potassium citrate as my original 250g package is getting low. I am still taking a half a teaspoon to a full teaspoon per day. I have not had calf cramps, not even once, since I started using this product. 5Great Cofactor to other minerals and Vit D.I am an older research analyst who was never sick and then recently suffered from a myriad of ailments for over a year. After 12 MD visits, 104 lab tests, 12 different diagnoses, and 14 prescriptions (for which I took none), I decided to apply my work skills to my health. I exercise daily and thought I ate "well". Not until I kept a detailed food log for several weeks and analyzed what I put in my pie-hole did I discover that I did not get near enough Magnesium, Calcium, Zinc, and Potassium. This analysis also assumed the mineral content of food is what it was originally documented as having...not taking into account over farming etc. I developed informative correlations between mineral deficiencies, typical age related problems, and my dietary intake of minerals. Why did my blood work and RBC content for minerals keep coming back "normal"? I, like most people, have good homeostasis. I read numerous medical and other information papers stating that serum levels are not an accurate indicator of your body stores of minerals. My analogy I created is it is like discerning how much motor oil you have in your car engine from your oil pressure gage/idiot light. There is no readily available/inexpensive mineral dipstick for the body's stores. I know there is hair analysis or under tongue scraping tests. I supplemented with all the minerals and the typical 99mg potassium pills. I had a turn-around in almost all my ailments and noticed when I took small multiples of the potassium pills I would have spurts of "wellbeing". I took a few days of Thirty to Forty 99mg potassium pills and noticed longer periods of sleep, better clarity, etc. I found this product and now take whatever I need to get around 5000mg total potassium a day. Typically, 3000 to 4000 mg a day in four 800-1000 doses dependent on my food/sodium intake. It is easy on my stomach and I, like many others, have developed a method that is not offensive. BTW, ALL my ailments and out of specification body metrics are gone with no Meds...hmmm?? One of the papers I read for a medical perspective was "New Guidelines for Potassium Replacement in Clinical Practice" by four MDs. My bottom line: We deplete our mineral stores as we age/stress. Good Health Takes Attention and Work. 5Great StuffI've used this for several years. I put it in my tea in the morning along with my collagen powder and MCT. I've been on a Keto diet for about 4 years. Potassium is sometimes hard to get enough of when eating this way. This is the perfect solution for me. Totally tasteless in my tea and it works to help me from getting leg cramps at night. 5Great value and convenience compared to capsulesProduct came on time and undamaged. The daily value shown on labels (like the back of this package,) is based on the recommendation of 3500mg of Potassium for a 2000 calorie diet, even though the daily value set forth by others would be around the 4700mg range due to American eating habits. About 36% of this powder is Potassium while ~64% is Citric Acid (base on labeling.)1 tsp of this (5000mg) would have about 1800 mg of Potassium while it would also have 3200mg of Citric Acid.2 tsp of this, if measure correctly, would give 3600mg of Potassium, more than enough to fulfill the requirement for the 2000 calorie diet, but still short for a 4700mg Potassium diet.2 1/2 tsp of this would give you ~4500mgs of Potassium.Value for the money? Definitely better than the useless capsule of Potassium you can get OTC in almost any regular store and/or pharmacy, but due to the nature of Potassium, people who are going through this route to fulfill the daily needs of potassium should do so with some caution.Taste wise? Grab your favorite beverage and dilute it with the powder. The stronger the flavor of your beverage, the easier it might be to swallow. It will either be an acquired taste, like Potassium Salt, or it may be hard to get used to. It definitely is easier to drink down compared to Potassium Chloride when used as a salt substitute. If anything it taste much like the Creatine supplements you get in jugs. 5Finally an intelligent solution to a huge problem! The CDC states that our daily minimum intake of potassium is 4700mg. That translates into 4-5 pound of raw vegetable @ day, or 10 bananas, or 5 avocados, or 5 pounds of zucchini. Something that I simply could not ingest on a regular basis, and was therefore deficient in potassium. Supplements in pill form only provide 3% which is a joke. This deficiency was affecting my health in many ways. Now I take the equivalent of 40% of the potassium citrate which I bought from BulkSuplements. I mix it in a liter of water with the juice of a lemon, add a few drops of stevia, and I drink it with meals. The beneficial effects are immediate! It has lowered my blood pressure. I sleep 8 hours uninterrupted, something I could not do in years!! I breathe deeply. My muscles no longer ache, and I have more energy! I love this product and highly recommend it.Please measure carefully and follow the BulkSupplements guidelines regarding safe intakes. 5Instructions for doseage suck but it really works!I wrote a scathing review about Bulk Supplements and their lousy lack of instructions. I finally figured it out despite their lack of response.I've been taking 6 grams twice a day in a crystal lite kind of beverage to hide the horrible taste. I tried it in black coffee and that worked too. I'm taking this to lower my blood pressure which has been considered uncontrollable since I was 38 yrs old I am not 62.After a visit to my dentist she said she couldnt do the work i was scheduled for because my blood pressure was crazy high 205 over 110. It freaked me out and I went home and began my research. I've tried so many things over the years none worked and I was up to 4 pills a day and still normal for me was 165 over 95.I've been taking the potassium now for about 2 weeks and my blood pressure is NORMAL! ITS FINALLY NORMAL! 5Potassium accounts for 38.3%of the weight of potassium citrateVery good product, pure and high quality.1 tea spoon of this powder contains 5712 mg potassium citratePotassium accounts for 38.3%of the weight of potassium citrate, so 1 tea spoon of this powder contains 2187.696 mg potassiumOur daily minimum intake of potassium is 4700mgI am taking 1.5 tea spoons potassium citrate (=3281.544 mg potassium), because my diet is low in potassium. I take 0.5 tsp 3 times a day.Anyways, you decide how much you need to take by checking how much potassium you intake from your diet. 5
