Excellent while working, but don't expect it to work more than a year!**Update** I've now talked to Chattanooga / DJO Global Customer Service regarding the latest unit that stopped working. They essentially told me that regardless of what happens, after one year they will not replace or even repair the unit. Not only that, the rep. told me they will not offer ANY type of troubleshooting to help you repair it on your own. Then when I said to the rep. so this heating pad is basically a piece of @$%& made in China... he agreed! Outrageous - I'd stay away from this scam-y company if possible!!I have gone through several of these over the past few years as needed for pain. In my opinion, the 'moist' heat offered in this heating pad penetrates deep, and really offers real soothing relief for your pain - that can't be compared to a generic heating pad. Now that I've gone through several of these units, the big HOWEVER is that they don't last. I think the longest time I had one last was a year. Invariably there will be some sort of electrical issue - be it with the cord, or an error message on screen and then the heating pad just doesn't heat up at all. I've experienced this several times, with several different replacements of this exact heating pad. I actually got Chattanoofa / DJO Global to replace one under warranty one of the times it failed, and then eventually that warranty replacement failed as well. I keep coming back because when this heating pad is working, it works so well ::sign:: DJO Global if you are listening PLEASE fix the electrical/cord issues - I'd even be willing to pay more for a high quality product! 2New model is poorly made and wont last.This pertains to the model shipping in 2016. The old model had a different thermostat and lasted nearly 2 years in our chiropractic clinic before needing replaced. I bought this new model with different thermostat in 2015 and since have gone through 4 of them. The first couple I thought might just be flukes, but now its abundantly clear that this is simply an inferior product that will not last more than a couple months. I will not be purchasing this brand again and would not recommend it for home or professional use. 1Chattanooga Theratherm Digital Heating pad.THESE HEATING PADS ARE THE BEST IN CONSTRUCTION , but the reason I gave it 3 stars, is that the temperature range is pre-set at 113F to 166F...... much to high. The description on the web site says Control the temperature between 88 and 166 degrees Fahrenheit (31 and 74 degrees Celsius) and select the duration between 1 and 60 minutes...not true. As a result I can use it for only 5 minutes at a time. The ones I have previously purchased of this brand, lets me set it as low as in the 80s. Wonder why they are forcing these higher temps on me. Tried to contact the seller but got no answer. 3BUM WRAP - Temperature screen error on screen after using for less than 4 months - major dissapppointmentLess then 4 months old and the temperature screen shows and error that cannot be cleared. I have had other similar wraps from other companies and they lasted for several yearsSince this error, you cannot change/control the temperature. The heat swings high and then low which is dangerous. The documentation that came with this does not cover how to clear the error, nor does anything on line so far. I have tried a variety of things and no resolution.I am upset that I will have to throw out this very expensive wrap that I bought for my arthritis. Definitely a BUM WRAP 1Inferior ProductWorked beautifully for a month. Then out of the blue for no reason I turned on the pad and the control panel is completely berserk. I just missed the return window by two days. Most upsetting since this was so needed for pain and now the loss of money. This wasn't a cheap heading pad money wise. Very disappointed. 1No return policy, which you can't even find out until after you order itI had the older version of this heating pad, used it for years, and loved it. Recently it was retired due to age so my mother bought me the newer version as a replacement for my birthday. Within a couple weeks, the digital screen broke becoming completely unreadable. The heating pad itself seems to continue working fine - but not being able to see the digital output is obviously a problem.I mentioned this to my mom (who had also owned the older model for years and currently has this version as well), and she responded in saying that hers also has the same problem, but that it lasted quite a bit longer before this occurred.Due to this I decided to return it instead of exchange it, using the gift receipt I had been provided. I tried to automatically do it online and it claimed that it was not eligible for a return, so I contacted Amazon directly. Below is a transcript of the conversation, which by itself pretty much tells you everything you need to know. That was a mistake. Although this heating pad gets exceptionally hot it does not hold its heat at all. The display has a thermostat that shows the actual temp. After using it for about 20-30 minutes I noticed it wasn t feeling as warm. I looked at the thermostat and the temperature was slowly ticking down. After a few more minutes it had lost its heat completely. Turning it off and back on did nothing. It just sat there with no heat. After waiting 30 minutes or so it would heat back up again but would repeat the same problem of losing its heat again after 20-30 minutes. It s like it couldn t handle heating for more than a short time without needing to cool down.To make matters worse when I went to return it the Amazon app told me that it was ineligible for return. After calling and talking with Amazon they went ahead and refunded my money. This item is not worth the hassle and is obviously poorly made. Steer clear of this one. 1Exceptional quality and durability!I would give more stars if I could! Purchased this heating pad 7 years & 1 month ago and it has received very heavy usage. I chose this specific item because of the size - I have a chronic inflammatory condition causing pain in the axial skeleton (spine and pelvic joints, tendons/ligaments, muscles) and this is big enough to cover my especially problematic areas in my upper back (between the shoulder blades) and posterior pelvis (lower than "low back"). I have been using it for 1-3 hours, 3-5 times per week, year round, since I got it. It has performed like a champ! I never used the fancier programmable functions but really appreciated the wide range of temperatures I could select, instead of just "hi" or "lo". Delivers a far more satisfying heat therapy than the typical drugstore heating pads without ceramic cells.Alas, my pad came to an abrupt end yesterday - I guess you could say it died in its sleep. But it lived a long, productive life with reliable service right up to the end, and provided exceptional value for the $56 I paid for it, especially considering it's even made here in the US! I read all of the instructions and How-To's so that she would not be burned or injured. We were both very diligent in using this pad properly. This morning, I was getting ready to lay it over the painful area on her back , but the device would not heat! It does turn ON....but nothing more. It is only 9 months old, and for the price it really should last MUCH longer! Buyer BEWARE...this item is not worth this (or ANY) price!! I am terribly upset and will NEVER use this company again!!! PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY and look elsewhere!!! UPDATE: I contacted Amazon for help with this item and recv'd a phone number from them for a Johnson Distribution @ 1-718-590-4357. This is a private phone number and when dialed, nobody answers.....EVER! I constantly get a machine. If anyone else can help with a phone number that will lead me to the company that sold me this item, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. 1
