One StarVery Thin. Not 12 Ply, maybe 2 compared to CVS pads 1Flimsy, seems to be more like 2-ply unless I don't understand the definition of "ply."Perhaps I don't understand what the advertised "12-ply" means or the definition of "ply." But, these are flimsy and appear to be just one layer folded over to make what I would deem only 2-ply. Therefore, I have to combine them with better quality pads that I have to buy in RiteAid to achieve the amount of absorbency that I had expected from the definition of 12-ply. Stupidly, I had ordered three boxes. I have had to open and use some of the contents of the first of three boxes. But it would probably be too expensive for me to try to return to Amazon for a refund. 1Cheese cloth not gauze.As bad as pretty much all the other people have said. Very rough because the mesh size is huge. I'm pretty sure it's cheese cloth not gauze. Even after several folds to get their "12 ply" it's still useless. Also they measure 3 1/2 by 3 1/2". 1Don't waste your moneyThese are hard, wire like sponges. There's no cotton layer to soak up any fluids. I'm using these on a burn and the moment it touches the wound it hurt. I will not purchase these again or use them. Terrible! 1Gauze that feels like sandpaper. One piece of gauze per package instead of the usual two. DO NOT RECOMMEND.These are terrible gauze pads. First of all, most sterile gauze includes at least two pieces of gauze in each sterile package. DealMed's 2x2 sterile gauze only includes 1 in each packet. Secondly, the gauze feels like sandpaper -- the weave is very loose and the material very rough on your skin, unusually rough relative to most other medical gauzes. Thirdly, they shipped the damn box to me in an ENVELOPE, which meant that the box arrived totally crushed. That just added insult to injury.Go with the 2x2s made by Covidien or Kendall. Avoid this stuff!! You're better off using toilet paper. 1Very DisappointedI do jobsite First Aid Certification classes for a living and use the 4x4's for bandaging demonstrations and practice. These pads are so thin you can actually see through them. I'd be embarrassed to use these in a class, and more importantly, a single pad would be grossly insufficient to bandage a wound. Amazon has been good for me, I've bought a lot of first class products here. This one, though, is a definite fail. Can't win'em all, I guess. 1Blatant false advertising.These pads are labeled as 12ply pads. For those wondering, that would mean that there are -12- layers of gauze in each 4x4 pad. This 100% is not a 12 ply pad and is in fact a 4 ply pad. These pads are NOT very absorbent at all. I m not even sure how Amazon allows this blatant misrepresentation to occur. P.S., amazon customer service doesn t really care. I complained that the item should be removed from the site for false / misleading information and was ignored. 1Just Plain SHODDY!One reviewer says that anyone unsatisfied with this product simply ordered the wrong item. However, what should we expect when it says 12-ply? I have a previous box of (somebody's store-brand) 12-ply gauze pads that are softer, more absorbent, and have a tighter weave. These pads say "Type VII", but my previous gauze pads have no "type" on the box, so how was I supposed to know that this is "just the wrong item"? Also I thought they'd be absorbent, since they're COTTON, but apparently that doesn't mean anything. Also, if you are hoping to store the pads in their original manufacturer's box, forget it! This was shipped in a padded envelope, was delayed in arrival, and arrived totally crushed, with the pads spilling everywhere. They're still individually wrapped, so they're still sterile, but the box is useless. Luckily for my purposes I don't need the box, but this is an unacceptable condition to receive a NEW product in. Given how poor the pads themselves are, I will be returning immediately. 2Thin pads.... Thin box... not 12-ply.. lightweightThe pads came in the thin box others have commented on. A little bent but not broken but the pads were contained in the box. The box doesn't specify (purchased mid-April 20119) cotton but says sterile U.S.P. Gauze type VII which is supposed to be cotton. Box says made in China for Delayed (USA). No latex.The pads are thin and light and classical gauze in that is is mesh like. I put pics here with the Rite-Aid 2x2's. The R-A brand are thinner and more "pad" like than mesh, smoother and more comfortable. The Dealmed may be better if you want to rub. . Although the wrapper in the Delayed says 12 ply, it is really 6 (very thin). I weighed for comparison 10 wrapped pads of the R-A and Delayed brands- the RA was 5 oz and the Delayed was 4 oz.. I am using this for wound care so this makes a difference. The amount of water absorbed into the Dealmed is much less than the R-A (probably about 50% less) , so with Dealmed I need to use twice as many as R-A to get a good wet packing, though the job is getting done.I bought the 100 count but will not repeat.If you liked this post- please hit the helpful button. It motivates me to do experiments- like weighing and things. 2Skip It, You'll Just Be Wasting Money!This is the worst product ever, do not purchase if you need a gauze pad to soak up anything. This is 12 plys of a coarse mosquito netting like material, but the holes are so big, mosquito's can simply fly right through. The reason they don't show you what the gauze looks like, is because if they did, no one in their right mind would ever buy it! 1
