Works great until the velcro failsMy daughter uses/used this Donjoy tru-pull lite brace for cheerleading after a patellar subluxation. She was actually given this exact brace through her sports med physician, but it was soon going to need to be replaced due to failing velcro. With this particular brace purchased on Amazon, the velcro completely ripped off when my daughter was adjusting the lower strap for the very first time! She hadn't even worn it yet! Unfortunately, the brace was purchased and it was not used (well, put on) for the first time until over a month had passed since purchase. Therefore, I was unable to return. Based on prior experience with this brace, we still give it 3 stars overall. Works great until the velcro fails, which will definitely happen, unfortunately. I wish we could have gotten a replacement for free. Instead, I am trying a different model. 3Getting correct size can be a problem.This was a size larger replacement for first order which did not fit despite being well within measured limits (btw, great effort by Amazon for return and replacement). Larger size also did not fit, but could not delay use any longer, so split the upper portion, slipped on leg. It did hold well and moved the patella into better location, reducing pain and swelling. User is a senior and not in good physical shape, so do not know if that strongly impacted measurement issue. Suggest asking physical therapist/occupational therapist or skilled trainer if measurements should be adjusted. 3BEST Knee Brace AroundWhat can I say- this thing works! Having knee troubles, Dr told me to buy the Donjoy (She was very specific not to purchase any other brand) I was like wow, this thing is $60.00 and I sorta hem-hawed about purchasing it. Man am I glad I did....Long story short - Used this on my 100 Mile Run and NO pain, NO slipping , Brace was never in my way or felt uncomfortable and I tell you it worked. Knee pain 0% !!!! Worth every Cent! 5Too tightI ordered the next size up compared to my leg measurements and the brace was still to tight. The price point is way to high for the brace. I would not recommend this brace. 1Too small, need to go at least a size upThe brace was too small. The side rod dug in painfully and it took a lot of difficulty to pull the whole brace over the knee. Even then, it was way too tight and uncomfortable. With long term wear, I worry it'll cut off circulation. I ended up returning it.I know the listing used the brand's sizing chart, as I went to their site to look up the chart as well. I measured my knee exactly as instructed and my measurements where right in the middle of L. If you buy this brace, you'll need to go a size up. 2GreatMy daughter had these prescribed though a doctor a couple years ago and I was replacing it with a new one. The has loose knee caps and has dislocated hers several times, this is the best knee brace to stabilize her knee cap, we have tried so many and nothing works like this. I know its a lot of money for a knee brace, but worth it. 5Would not recommendI ll keep it short and to the point:1. Sizing chart is completely off. Based on size chart I should be a medium. Based on reviews I ordered large. The large, which should have fit more than comfortably (based on their size chart) was too small. Return for the XL which was far too big.2. The inside seam rubs against my other leg harshly and leaves a red welt after only an hour of inconsistent use.3. Does not support the patella nearly as well as it should. The plastic that cups the outside of the patella is far too large.4. Very bulky5. Not made of comfortable materialTitle says it all 2Falling apart after wearing twiceFirst off, I love the fit of this brace. I have tried many different brands and this is the only one that worked for me.Unfortunately, it is already falling apart. I recieved the brace 1 week ago. I have worn it twice for a total of 3 hours and the stitching at the top and bottom are already coming undone and have seperated.I will be returning for a full refund and the search starts again. 1Works but doesn't last longPros: My knee pain went away completely soon after I started wearing it, so it does help.Cons: Doesn't last long. The strap is held together with nothing but velcro. After two months of wearing it, it's useless. I'm going to try and sew a new velcro strip on it and see if I can extend the life, but for how much it costs it should last a lot longer.Sizes definitely run small, as others stated. I measured myself beforehand and it was still really snug, but it did stretch with use.Not the most comfortable brace in the world. Rubs against your skin pretty bad. First week was rough, but it got better. 2Patellafemoral Pain Syndrome SupportI bought this for my 15 year old daughter who runs cross country and was diagnosed with Patellafemoral pain syndrome. She s 5 5 and weighs about 100 lbs. The XS was too tight and ended up ordering the small which fit perfectly. She ran a race with the brace and said it felt fine, with the exception to that it rubbed against the opposite knee while running. The brace seems to be working, but was told by a PT that she shouldn t wear it too much and work on strengthening the muscles that support the knee. We would recommend this brace. Some reviews stated that the Velcro stops working not too long after using it. So far, it s still good; however, she s only been using the brace for 2 weeks. Fingers crossed that it lasts since it was pretty pricey compared to other knee braces. 5
