Customer Reviews

ELIMINATED my callous pain, even in no show socks! Wouldn't recommend for sports/running though.I should probably start by saying I have quite a sordid history of foot problems for someone only in her mid 30's. I've had osteotomy surgery, plantar warts, you name it. A lot of my foot problems stem from the fact that one of my legs is slightly longer than the other. Since my left leg is a bit shorter, my left foot takes most of the pressure. I also have VERY high arches, so the heel and ball of my left foot really take a beating, especially since as a research scientist and mother of a very active autistic 4 year old, I'm on my feet a LOT. Also, we have mostly hard wood and tile flooring in our house and I tend to walk around barefoot or in my socks which also wears on my feet. Over the last 6 months I have developed some major callouses on the ball of my left foot and they're starting to become painful. I lotion and pumice regularly but they are still bothering me, at least when I wear certain shoes (my chuck taylor slip on sneakers that are my favorite). I decided to try out this metatarsal pad and see if that made a difference and it definitely has! Here's what I like about these pads:- REUSABLE! I hate single use stuff. So wasteful! These are super easy to clean and use again and again.- EASY to wear! I love things that are idiot proof and these definitely are. They are labeled to indicate which is for which foot. R for right and L for left, and for you Spanish speakers they have a D for Derecha and an I for Izquierda (hooray for multilingual things!)- VERSATILE and can be used in multiple kinds of socks and shoes! My biggest concern would be that these would stay put in no show socks which I wear a lot and I can confirm that they do indeed! I have yet to find a well fitting sock that they wouldn't work in.- COMFORTABLE! Isn't that the most important thing? At first I felt like the ring was tugging on my toe a little but within a few moments I did not feel that anymore. I have been wearing this pad all day long and not only is it still comfortable by the end of the day but I have NO PAIN!!- THIN! These are thin enough that I can wear them with even my most snug shoes without causing problems.- STAYS PUT! Once this is situated in my sock and on my foot properly, it stays exactly where it should all day long! I can walk around the house in my socks with it on and it works just as well as in a shoe.- DURABLE! So far the material has been very durable and I think will hold up really well without getting rips, tears or punctures. Here's what I don't like as much:- This pad tends to make my foot more sweaty and moist than normal which I don't love, but I think that's going to be a common problem of any similar product, so it's something I expected and can live with.- I wish the material were a little less squishy. I mean, don't get me wrong, it does the job and prevents pain, but if it were a little more firm while still being soft, it would prevent my foot from doing a little squish wiggle every time I step down on it. It's a very slight wiggle, but I definitely notice it. It's not a slip, it's a wiggle. These are not slippery. It's hard to describe until you experience it for yourself, but because of this little wiggle inside the shoe, I personally would not use these for running or other sports that require running or stopping/turning on a dime. I think it would be hard on the ankle. My recommendation would be to get a full insole for those activities instead of just a pad.All in all I'm really pleased I bought these and have been getting great use out of them so far! Are they comfortable? Yes? Is it annoying having to wear something additional in my shoe? Yes, but I'd rather deal with annoying than pain and can definitely recommend them for callous pain on the ball of the foot as they have completely eliminated mine! Hope this helps a fellow sufferer! (PS please forgive the picture of my unmanicured toes. It's winter here now.)I did NOT receive this item free or at a discount 4Very good solutionThis works really well. I normally start to have neuroma pain in both feet at around the 2.6 mile mark of my walk. I like to go 3 miles with 12 to 20 pounds in a weight vest on my shoulders. These pads stopped the onset of the neuroma pain and I was able to complete the 3 mile walk with no pain. I did have an issue in getting these pads positioned correctly over the crucial spot. Eventually I found that if I position them correctly on my foot, then bunch up a sock and open it wide so it doesn't touch or modify the position of the pad I can slip the sock over it on my foot and the sock basically holds it in place as long as I am careful to place my foot I the shoe without a lot of sliding forward. If you slide your foot forward when entering the shoe it will stretch the toe hole and move the position of the pad. I am sure a piece of scotch tape on your foot might work as well. Maybe the company should give some thought to discussing alternative ways of keeping this little gel pad in place on the foot. 5Could be great but.....I ordered these to complement the insoles I now have to wear after an injury. The first time I tried them, I obtained instant relief of my metatarsal pain. Since that first time, I have tried to use them in my walking shoes by following the instructions. But using a close fitting sock to hold them in place does not work well at all. They slide out of place when I put the sock on and since the sock is so close fitting, I can't get them back in position.I will need to find some sort of adhesive that I can use that doesn't gum up my foot after removal. If anyone has figured this out, I would love to hear from them. If I can resolve the problem of the slipping Metatarsal Pad, I would be a much happier customer. 4These silicon inserts are soft and comfortable!I have had foot pain for a while, I experienced pain in the metatarsal area, I didn't known these inserts existed. I stand on my feet for work, these silicon inserts are soft and the design is great, because the small silicon ring allows the insert to stay in place inside the shoe while walking. I am very pleased with this product! 5Helps relieve callus pain.I do a lot of walking and hiking, and have developed a severe callus on my left foot and a lesser one on my right as well. I now use inserts with stick on metatarsal pads in my walking shoes, but was hoping to find something I could use with dress shoes, boots, slippers and other footwear not compatible with the insoles. When I discovered Dr. Frederick's Original 2 Piece Metatarsal Pad Set - Ball of Foot Cushions I was very curious to try it out in hopes that it was the answer I was seeking.Upon receipt I was surprised by how thin and flimsy they are, and my first attempt to use them didn't go well. But I came to realize that they require a tighter sock, so gave that a try. These pads definitely work better with tighter socks, or even compressions socks, but putting them on and getting them properly positioned is a challenge. But it is worth the effort; they provide a nice layer of cushioning. I am able to wear my non-walking shoes for much longer periods of time when I have them on.It's worth mentioning that I find the toe ring very comfortable; forget it's even on within seconds.Disclaimer: I purchased Dr. Frederick's Original 2 Piece Metatarsal Pad Set - Ball of Foot Cushions at a discount in exchange for my honest review, and was thrilled for the opportunity to test this out at a lower price! Yet as an avid online shopper, I know how critical truthful reviews can be, therefore I always put honesty and integrity before the needs of the seller every time I write one. If you've read this review and found it helpful, I'd appreciate you clicking the 'yes' button. Comments are always welcome too! 4Wear it in the gymI have metatarsalgia from when I used to run a lot. What I first noticed is how comfortable these were. They really seemed to help but unfortunately, keeping them anchored on my 2nd toe proved to be impractical. I have since stopped using them. I would highly recommend them to someone who wears high heels.Update a year later:I ditched these because the toe anchor was cumbersome when changing shoes and socks at the gym. I experimented and tried cutting the anchor but they moved around so I gave up on them. I tried all sorts of other things like a stiffer sole, insole cushions, orthotics, flexible soles and a variety of shoes. What I finally concluded is the harder soles and tight shoes increased the pain. My feet always burned after working out on the elliptical trainer or treadmill, so I started using this product just when I went to the gym. This product is the only thing that helps. I order another set to try the anchor again. I'm also trying the memory foam insoles to see if that helps. 4Needs another way to attach to footThis product could be worthwhile, but attaching the pad to one toe is not working. The pad moves around when you wear it with shoes and becomes very uncomfortable. There needs to be another way to attach this to your foot or I don't see this provides any benefit. Some type of sticky attachment that is easily removed would work much better.I am rewriting my original review of this product after the manufacturer responded to my initial review. The manufacturer offered to refund my purchase or to purchase another product of the same value. I did not want to receive a refund, but restated my comments about developing some way this pad could be put in place by some type of non-permanent glue or adhesive. 4I do not recommend this product for any reasonI have pain in the pads of both feet. I purchased this product to help relieve pain. I do not recommend this product for any reason. Once you put them on your foot and put your shoe on, you can't tell that they are there because they go flat, offering no support.I would like to say that this product is a good product, well made and priced fairly. It wasn't what I needed for the condition of my feet. It is a serious and painful condition. I am seeing a podiatrist for treatment. I would purchase items from Dr. Frederick again because I think the items are good quality items, fairly priced and Dr. Frederick stands behind their products and is interested in customer feed back. They responded to my previous review, offered me three alternatives, I chose one and they have complied. Dr. Frederick has a highly reputable business with excellent products and will always listen to the customer's opinion, offer options for dissatisfied customers and will use customer's advice to improve their business and products. 4Increased the pain when walking a few milesThe Dr. Fredrick's pads are well made and do a great job of cushioning the ball area of the foot and from the reviews they work well for the majority but with my foot issues it increased the pain around the ball of the foot.I tried it for a few days and it works well as a cushion but it increased the pain on the ball of my foot when I tried walking a few miles. I then tried Dr. Scholl s Pain Relief Orthotics for Ball of Foot Pain pad and for me putting the pad just behind the ball of the foot has greatly relieved the pain when walking. I think it raises the longer bones around it and reduces the pressure better when moving. I also understand that for many people a very good cushion like Dr. Fredrick's will work great but there are many reasons for metatarsal pain and you may need to try more than one recommendation. 3Very comfortable. Reduces PainHad severe metatarsal pain in my right foot acccompanied by regular calluses. Have been wearing these pads now since a week and it has made a great difference in both comfort and pain relief. You need to wear socks over it though to keep the pad in place but that is not really an issue for me Warmly recommended 5
