You have to stand perfectly still...but it's very accurate!UPDATED 10/3/2013: I have determined that the problem with locking in a weight rested solely on me. I've lost 40 lbs, which has changed my frame just enough to allow me to stand still. This scale is very sensitive, so being able to stand perfectly still is essential to getting an accurate weight. With that, it is now operating flawlessly for me. Kudos to Eat Smart products for producing a high quality product!EDITED 7/10/2013: I have to give credit to Bill @ EatSmart...he stands behind his products, and is certainly in touch with any customer having issues. I've received the second unit, and no change in the results. This product simply does not work FOR ME. I'm 5'11" and 375lbs. My frame is so large that I cannot seem to hold still long enough to let the scale lock in my weight. However, the scale does exceptionally well for the rest of my family.I've bumped up my rating to 4-stars because of the customer service, and because it appears that the problem resides with me. However, this remains the only scale that I've had this happen, and also means I must continue my search for a scale that will work for me.As long as you are able to stand still long enough to capture your weight, this scale will do a fine job for you. However, if there is even a minute sway while on the scale, it may affect your ability to use it.I still say the customer service is among the best I've seen. So, if nothing else, order the product and try it.EDITED 07/02/2013: I have been contacted directly by the company to address my concerns listed in this review. I have to give kudos to the EatSmart company, because they genuinely care about customer satisfaction. We were unable to fix the problem over the phone, so they are shipping me a new unit. I will post another revision once that unit arrives and I can test it.ORIGINAL REVIEW: This scale worked exactly as advertised out of the box, and the instructions are more than intutive. The scale works perfectly for my wife, my 3 year old son, and my 13 year old daughter. However, the experience of daily use has not lived up to expectations--because it doesn't work well for me.This scale is supposed to allow you track weight gain or loss based on your regular weigh-ins. I haven't even been able to log an initial weight, because the scale bounces the reading up and down several tenths of a pound while I stand on the scale. Eventually, the scale will give up and shut itself off. For whatever reason, this only occurs for me. I am well under the weight capacity for the scale.I can usually get a "general" idea of where my weight is at, but I've never been able to get an exact reading out of this scale. I've owned several in the past six years, and this is the first one that has failed to give me an exact reading. 5Scale Didn't Work But Customer Service Is ExcellentThe 5-star "Excellent" rating is for EatSmart's Customer Service. Unfortunately the initial AND the replacement scale failed to work properly. Both units would fluctuate rapidly on the "ones" and "tenths" digit display without every locking onto a specific weight before the display shut off. The fluctuation occurred over 1 to 2, sometimes to 3 pounds without ever locking into a specific weight. Additionally the "Profile" function never gave any history of previous weigh-ins. I tried several surfaces including ceramic tile and concrete without success. I suspected both these units might have been part of a bad production run from China, but the technician at EatSmart informed me they test every scale; especially replacements before they ship them. Since the number of favorable reviews far outweigh the negative ones I am left with the quandary as to why two different units performed unsatisfactorily in the same way. Despite this problem, I was very impressed with EatSmart's efforts to rectify this problem. They immediately sent a replacement and when that didn't work they again offered to work with me to see if we couldn't solve this mystery. In the end, we concurred that they would refund my money and send me a "call tag" to return the scales. This company definitely seems to care about its customers and was completely responsive both to my e-mails and phone calls and repeately offered to do whatever I wanted to resolve this matter. Unfortunately, in spite of over 500 positive reviews to the contrary, this unit didn't work for me. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again in the future. I am just disappointed in this particular item. 5Not meant to be moved. Not instant readings.This scale is meant to put in one place and not be moved. If you pick it up and move it, it reads usually 3-5 lbs light. You have to step on it to recalibrate, and it's not instant. It takes a couple minutes to be ready again. When you step on the scale it gives you a reading and if you want to step on it again to confirm, it doesn't give you another reading. It goes through a program that flashes through your previous weights. It takes a minute or so to cycle through before it shuts off. If you step on it before it's done it won't give you your weight. You have to wait until it shuts off, then you can step on it again. It's a lengthy process. 1Innaccurate with bugs masquerading as featuresThis thing sucks. I'm guessing there must be a bunch of fake reviews. I've owned it for a few years and it literally does nothing well. You can stand on it once and it will read, say, 150 lbs. Then, after waiting what seems like forever for it to stop flashing numbers, you can stand on it again and get 153 lbs. This of course makes it nearly useless for its core functionality. Coming back to the flashing numbers, there is a function baked in that allows you to see what you weighed last time you stood on the scale and also stores a few different users' profiles. The problem is that instead of letting you simply scroll through these facts on your own, it runs through them for you what seems like 100 freakin' times. Meaning that if you want to reweigh yourself or use it after someone else, you'll be waiting a while. 1What a joke.I got this scale after reading reviews and seeing it had all the functions I wanted. Shortly after receiving the scale, I noticed no matter how many times I step on and off (yes, level floor. yes, it's been calibrated) it gave me a different weight. Sometimes the difference was as much as 9 lbs. What a joke. It's now in my closet collecting dust where it will stay until I can properly dispose of it. 1Not accurate at allThe scale is not really accurate. I am a Weight Watcher & weigh on my scale & I have to weigh in regularly. The first time I got on the scale, same time of day as usual, wearing what I usually wear, I was up 4 lbs. I thought to myself, that can't be I have done nothing to be up that much. So I got on again & immediately LOST 4 lbs. So every time I weigh it is up the first time, I get back on & it is down.I bought the scale because it had good reviews, my scale has not met those ratings.FOLLOW UP. After my review I got a response from EatSmart products & they told me how to correct the problem, it now works GREAT!If anyone has a similar problem here is how they told me to reset my scale.1. Remove the battery from the scale.2. Set the scale on the floor (no carpet) without the battery in place.3. Stand on the scale for 10 seconds (still without the battery).4. Carefully replace the battery without pressing any buttons or activating the scale.5. Set the scale on the floor (no carpet) with the battery in place.6. Using only one foot, tap the scale or apply just enough pressure to turn on the display. IMMEDIATELY REMOVE YOUR FOOT. (It should show dashes or zeroes)7. Let the scale turn off.8. Step on the scale for a weight reading 5Great and still working fine after several yearsI ve had mine for 5 years and still working great. Important to zero it out (see other reviews on how) and have on firm surface. Check your batteries and replace them if it gets a little wonky. You will lose your last weight, but not a big deal. Just remember to calibrate or zero and you won t have problems. I have seen the bad reviews and can repeat their problems if I don t set it up properly so that doesn t hold much credence with me. I love mine and use it several times a day to keep me on track. I highly recommend, in fact sent my brother the link to buy one as he is in the market for one. 5Really Motivates YouUPDATE 8/18/16: Over 2 years after purchase and this scale is still working just like it did out of the box. I can't recommend this product enough!ORIGINAL REVIEW: This scale is absolutely amazing! I agree with some of the other reviewers that actually seeing the numbers go up as you put one foot on and then the other gives it a more realistic feel instead of you stepping on, standing still, and waiting for the number to pop up. Both my girlfriend and I are using this scale to help motivate us to keep up the diet we just started, it is working very well! The multiple user function is great! It can remember all of your weigh-ins and give you feedback both compared to the last weigh-in and your very first weigh in. I also love how it knows who you are based on your current weight. With a previous scale that my roommate and I shared we had to select which user we were before you stood on the scale. With this one, if you step on it and you are within + or - 6.6lbs of your last weigh in it will automatically select that user, if multiple people are within that same range it will give you the option of person 1 or person 2 for example. 5Best scale everI have never written a review for Amazon.com before, but I've also never been so thoroughly impressed with a product before - within seconds of opening the package. I ordered this scale because my wife and I were disgusted with the inconsistency of our Weight Watchers scale by Conair which we had purchased many years ago. That scale would keep track of your overall weight loss as well, but it would give different readings depending on where you stood on it and where it was on the tile floor. It also was plastic and creaky.The EatSmart Precision Tracker came last night and we couldn't wait to try it. Knowing the best time to weigh is in the morning, we decided to try it on our kids. Our 2 year old had never been heavy enough to register on the Weight Watchers scale. The Precision Tracker allowed us to see her weight for the first time. It consistently weighed all 3 of our kids. The one time we thought it was off, we found our daughter had grabbed a sippy cup, which explained the ever so slight weight gain.One thing I haven't seen in prior reviews was a description of how the Precision Tracker displays your weight from the moment you step on the scale. You know how an analog scale with a dial will give you smooth feedback of the increasing weight as you fully step on the scale? You see the dial go from 0 and increase as you step one foot on and than increase again as you put your second foot on, increasing to your actual weight as you shift your weight from the floor to the scale. This is the first digital scale I've seen that does this. I like it because that's user feedback I felt was missing from our previous scale and something lost when switching from analog to digital. Before I had to just trust the digital scale because I wasn't getting the continuous feedback of the increasing weight as I stepped on. It feels like I got back that aspect I felt I had lost when I switched from analog to digital.So, my wife and I waited until this morning to weigh ourselves at the normal time. My wife was worried we would gain from our previously inconsistent scale. We were both down a pound and unable to get the scale to show different weights no matter how many times we weighed ourselves. We totally love the fact that the scale knows the difference between the two of us and that we don't have to press any buttons before stepping on. You just step on the scale.Also, the scale is beautiful to look at. Our previous scale was cheap plastic and creaky sounding when you stepped on. This scale is solid, beautiful to look at, yet very thin. I love the glass top. I am so happy with this purchase, I want everyone to know how great this product is. Money well spent.Pros:It provides consistent weight.It provides continuous feedback of your weight as you step on.You just step on to use it. No tapping the scale or pushing buttons.It tracks weight loss progress.It knows the difference between my wife and I based on our weight.It's well constructed, solid, and has a durable feel.It's beautiful to look at.Cons:None 5Feels solid, look great, and is accurate.I research and read reviews for months, watched youtube videos, and overall spent a good amount of time looking for the 'perfect' scale. IT seems every scale had the same negative reviews, and same complaints. Mostly regarding functions such as their 'bmi' calculations, or that the weight fluctuated too much even when taken minutes apart.I came across the precision tracker by eatsmart and was amazed that the reviews had almost nothing negative to say! And so I decided to purchase it and I also purchased the lower end $28 one from them for our guest bathroom (also to compare).The precision tracker has 8 profile set up, where it will tell you your last weight, current weight, % loss or gain, and the total weight gain/loss and % since the first time you used it on whichever profile. These functions seem to work very well, and are a nice bonus to a scale that is under $50. The weight seems very accurate, I even moved it all around my 2 story house, up and down the stairs, and it was always the same within a 5 minute testing interval. The cheaper $28 scale was only off by -0.4lbs, and seemed accurate as I moved it throughout the house also.I highly recommend this scale for your weighing needs! 5
