Helped me get moving again... LOVE ITThis is an awesome shoulder brace, it feels great, it looks like something out of a comic book. I dislocated my shoulder twice within 10 days, I was told to stay in my sling for about 2-3 weeks. I bought this brace around the 2nd week and put it on without help. Not only was it comfortable, I feel very capable with it on.I'm a medium-build male about 5'7 and 155lbs and I purchased the medium SB03. Fits like a glove. The longest I've worn this was about 10hrs (out all day) and it didn't bother me after extended use, nor did it scratch. All you need to do is pay attention to where the velcro is placed so that the rough side is completely attached the the strap and you're good to go... common knowledge right? Yes, there is a bit of a rubber smell. It's not bothersome to me at ALL. My wife has a heightened sense of smell right now and she isn't bothered either. It has some rubber and it's made of Neoprene so you're just smelling a bit of what it's made of. No big deal.I don't personally feel like it's that bulky. I've worn it under a jacket and nobody knew unless I showed them. All in all this is a well built product, and with it I feel the best I have in weeks. Helped me get back to work and off the bench. 5Didn't LastI had the same problem a lot of people had with it - it just didn't hold up. I had it about three weeks, then returned it. In order to get the compression I needed at first I didn't need to tighten it much at all. It was awesome, I had instant relief (bursitis), it kept my arm from going too high or too far back too. But over the course of those three weeks I kept having to tighten it more and more to get any compression at all. By the end of it, the chest pieces were overlapping each other and the little "spider" part that gives the shoulder compression was bunching up other parts of the chest piece. I can't imagine what another three weeks would have done. As a replacement I got "Neo G Medical Grade VCS Shoulder Support" which isn't as comfortable but still isn't bad and seems like it will have much better durability. I really wanted this brace to work, but in the end it just didn't.Oh, and for other women who might be considering this: this does work. 36D and the medium fit fine, but really have to wear a bra (look at the opening in the chest part: alternate containment is necessary) with it so sleeping might not be that comfortable, though I found the built in shelf bras in shirts to do the trick well enough. The chest bottom strap has nowhere to go but under the bust so I felt a little self-conscious in public. This one was more comfortable than the one I replaced it with as far as fitting around the chest. It really seems that most of these are geared towards men without even a thought to how female anatomy might come into play with all these straps and such. 2Effective support for a difficult areaYears ago I had AC reconstructive surgery and now I am older at times it gives me pain. This brace works well for those times and help relieve the muscle tension that results from flare ups.The construction is heavy duty and built to last. The velcro straps are durable and have lasted through frequent use and at least two washings. The hardware is a heavy duty plastic that is slightly flexible which makes them less likely to break. The straps are capped to prevent unravelling. Overall I am pleased with the brace.Bracing a shoulder is not an easy task as anyone with AC problems already knows but this brace does a good job, better than any others that I have tried however it is a bit bulky and is not easily hidden under clothing so I don't even try. It is better to look like a cyborg than a hunchback I guess...The brace is about as comfortable as one of these things can be. Since every directional strap is adjustable it is possible with some effort to make it more comfortable than it is out of the box. When worn over a loose fitting t-shirt it can bunch up the shirt and be annoying that way so it is better to wear a form fitting shirt under the brace. When worn against the skin it was not so comfortable. The velcro kept touching my skin and itching so I abandoned that route. I suppose with some additional adjustments I might have resolved that problem but I am not a patient person.Pros:- Durable: Well constructed and made from heavy weight materials. It seems to have been designed with durability in mind.- Comfortable: for the most part. The adjustable straps allow for the brace to be adjusted for comfort and support.- Effective: gives the shoulder additional support.- Flexible: the brace is flexible and can be used during workouts, sports or any activity where additional shoulder support is needed.Cons:- Bulky: when worn under clothing it can make you look a bit bumpy and misshaped. 5Runs small, tore upon adjustingI bought this based on the high rating. What a joke. It runs small. The X support tore on first use while adjusting, I didn't even wear it a minute. Very tight on bicep (mine are 11.5"). I had to sew the tear and cut the bicep area for more room because it was adding more pain to my shoulder & arm. I didn't send back because I needed a brace that day and could not wait so I modified it. What a let down. Rated it 1 star because 0 stars is not an option. 1Fit chart is off by alot.Just received my shoulder brace, I followed the measurement guide exactly for my size. I can bairly get this thing up my arm. I'm a 5'2 135 pound woman and this thing does not even come close to fitting. The top of the brace does not come up over my shoulder but right at the top of my shoulder adding additional pressure to my already hurt arm. If you purchase this product go up two sizes or you will be as dissapointed as I am. The quality is great the material is quality but the measurement is a joke. Guess I have to take the time to do a return. 1Did its job, quality is suspectI tried a few shoulder braces before this one. With my shoulder problem I was trying to get as much pressure on the posterior of my shoulder as possible. I tried a McDavid one and a couple others. This was the only brace that I felt did anything as far as applying pressure.I wear a 40R suit and the medium is sized to fit up to a 40 chest. It was extremely tight but doable when I first used it; which was for weight lifting. I did about an hour long session and when I took it off the stitching on the X brace came apart and the fabric itself for the rest of the brace was tearing in several spots. Part of the problem could have been from the tight fit across the chest, which is not needed as the pressure on the shoulder for this brace does not come from tightly strapping across the chest like other braces, but more so from the x brace and arm band adjuster.I give it a 3 out of 5 as it was the only brace that I felt applied pressure to my shoulder, but the quality is suspect. The issues could be from the fact that maybe a large wouldn't have stressed the material as much, but even if that is true, it lasted me only an hour. I feel like this would be helpful for light/every day use, but if you want to be active it might not be the best choice. 3Gets the job done, however........Shoulder muscles in both arms are shredded. Have lost the ability to raise my right arm unless twisted in a certain way to activate a different muscle. Dr said, "I can not fix this, use braces to support what you have left" Where is the brace store I asked. There isn't one he said. Where do I purchase braces I asked. You'll have to look on line. What do I look for I asked. Something to support your shoulders. Well, I was in shock anyway from the knowledge I will loose use of my arms sometime in the future. It took over a month of investigating different braces. I finally settled on this EVS model. I wear one on each shoulder/arm. Hot and sweaty in the summer, confining over clothes. Not comfortable wearing under clothes, for me anyway. It took some time to get used to them overlapping across my chest. They did finally become just part of my daily routine. I have washed them twice now. I do believe the first one I purchased to try out was a return as when I purchased the second one it was much firmer and the material itself looked different and new. No matter. I am a little disappointed that I haven't had them a year yet and they need to be replaced as the material the velcro attaches to is fuzzy and the pads that attach to it will not attach to the fuzz. I did try to shave off the fuzz, no luck with fastening. now one of the fastening pads is loose from the brace. Keep in mind, this is the one that I have a belief was a used one that had been returned. I will continue with this product as it truly does give me the support I need. I'm just going into my next purchase with a mind to check it out when it first arrives and send it back if it displays weakness in the areas that have failed on the first one. I don't find anywhere that indicates the longevity of the product with every day use. Truly supportive of the shoulders. 5Great Quality / Poorly Designed / Think About SizeAfter about a week of research I narrowed my choice to two braces - this was one of them. I chose this due to the more reasonable price and to be honest it looks like a high-end brace. I disregarded the sizing comments because it seems to be a mixed bag. I am a tall, lanky build with size 38 chest and thin biceps so I went with a medium. When it arrived I immediately put it on to see how it fit.First sign of problems was the tightness of the arm loop that wraps around your bicep. Like many reviews have stated it is entirely too tight on the arm and tends to ride up into the armpit restricting blood flow into the arm. I would also note the likelihood of chaffing and pressure points on the underside of the arm and armpit. This, in my opinion, is the biggest flaw of the product. With the tightness of the arm section it effectively renders the X-brace portion of this brace down to a mere marketing gimmick.Secondly, the chest strap barely wrapped around my chest and secured to the front of the support. With a fairly tight wrap I had just enough tightness to secure the entire velco section to its counterpart on the front. Perhaps this is the intended design, but I found it quite restrictive after an hour or so.Overall, I rated the product 3 stars because I do believe the product is well made with quality stitching and very securing velco securing strips. If you absolutely want to try this support I would suggest sizing up unless you measure to the very bottom of the sizing section. Perhaps a large would feel more comfortable but I am going to splurge for the higher priced brace to see if the design is more suited to a comfortable, stable shoulder. 3Feels Good ManI got this to manage chronic shoulder instability (i.e. repeated dislocations--I've had two so far, and will do pretty much anything to prevent a third). It's going to be a while before I can schedule an arthroscopic Bankart repair, which is the only real way to treat my condition, but I want to stay active in the meantime, and this seems to be pretty much the best thing out there for that purpose. I wear this under my shirt at work in lieu of a sling. I regularly run and do (one-armed) Pilates in it, and even performed in a contemporary dance piece while wearing it. The heavy neoprene is a little hot in the summer, but it's really durable and functional. I wouldn't change anything about it, it's just great. The one thing to keep in mind about this product is the sizing. When my shoulder came out, my chest was exactly 40" around, which is the cutoff between the large and medium sizes. After reading all the reviews stating that the product runs small, I went with the large size, and was perfectly happy with it; it fit great, and the medium clearly would have been too tight. After a few weeks of not being able to lift weights and cutting carbs out of my diet to compensate, however, I lost enough body mass that the large size first became loose on me, then awkwardly baggy. So I bought a second brace in the medium size. It's a bit tight, but it does fit better than the large, and will obviously continue to fit better as I continue to lose muscle mass while awaiting surgery. So bear in mind that the product runs smaller than the published sizes indicate, and that the adjustability is limited. If you chest is in the 38" range, you basically have to choose between a product that's a bit too loose or one that's a bit too tight. The "X-strap" does help with this issue though; even when the large size was getting loose on me, I always felt like my shoulder was held secure, and I would definitely recommend this version of the product over the SB02. 5Great for stability - no more dislocations!I've had problems with BOTH of my shoulders from the age of 16 (I am now 24) with them constantly falling out when I wash my back, play baseball (avid baseball/softball player), toss a rug down, or anything in general.I've had 3 surgeries on both arms to fix my instability which is directly related to my overly loose ligaments - and torn labrums in both shoulders. Ever since surgery about 7 years ago, I had to stop playing baseball and softball and couldn't throw anything without suffering a dislocation.Doing normal, daily activities, I would typically fall out of the socket maybe twice a day, but with this device, my shoulder is so tight that even when I try to manually pop myself out of the socket (a talent you get when your ligaments are so loose), I cant! I'm so relieved I go this product and in the first time in YEARS, I have a softball tournament this Saturday which would have NEVER happened if I didn't buy this miracle device.I've seen two prominent surgeons for my rare issue, both of which works for the orthopedics in the MLB. No one suggested a brace, they all want to "fix you". If you are like me who doesn't want any more surgeries, or just wants to hold on a while before getting your surgery, this shoulder brace will save your life. It gave me back a little portion of my life which I am so grateful towards. My shoulders have deciphered everything I've done physical wise and now I get back some of the freedom I lost after I got my surgeries.I only have one suggestion, order one size larger than the sizing chart because the piece that goes around your bicep is so tight, you'll eventually lose blood circulation. At the same time, the velcro strap that goes around the torso BARELY attaches because it is that tight. There is plenty of room for the velcro strap to tighten, so order a size larger and you'll be better off. 5
