It really works!I was skeptical but it really works. I put my cat's 3 pills in, turn the top, it easily screws down, and the pills are crushed. To make sure the pills are very finely ground up, I unscrew a little bit, and screw back down. There are no chunks, completely powder. Very pleased with this purchase. I probably could have gone with the small one for the pills I needed, but this way in case she gets more in the future I'm ready. I included a picture of Excedrin & Motrin in it for size reference. Also, the top is really deep and could store pills if needed. 5It is ok in sections!You use this crusher in sections because each piece comes apart as you use it. I think I have tried every crusher they make except the one they use in a nursing home because you have to buy the little bags to crush the pills each time a person takes them. They are not inexpensive and my husband takes pills 4 times a day so it would be 28 bags a week, ugh. This crusher is as good as any I have used but it does not crush the tiny little beads of medicine that come out of a capsule. I wish there was on crusher that would crush pills, coated pills and capsules (like Prilosec) that you open and have to crush the beads. So, it is as good as they come and it also has the extra pill cutter, the cup and the pill container but I do not use any of those. I also think some of the medicine gets under the bottom serrated part that is just glued on. My husband cannot swallow ANYTHING so I will be using a crusher the rest of his life to put the medicine through his g-tube after it is crushed and soaked. I will be buying new crushers every month or two because they all wear out. Crushes about 3-4 small pills at a time. 3Excellent product!This is my first time of purchasing the pill crusher. I have to take supplement pills everyday, and those pills are so big and everytime i swallow it i still feel it's still in my throat, doesn't digest all the way and i feel sick of everytime i took the supplement until i purchase this pill crusher! This is really a big relief for me! I crushed all the pills and mixed with orange juice and i felt great and i know the pills does digested right away as i can see it from the color of the urine. (Sorry, it disgusting mentioned the urine) But, this is very important because the pill crusher is really doing the job! This pill crusher came with small and large size, its only 2 bucks different, i suggest you buy the Large size because some pills are big and this Large size crusher will do better job. 5I'm glad I got it tooI decided to ignore the negative reviews after reading them. I figured I would take the risk because I needed something. I'm glad I got it too. It works way better than I expected. Some people just don't know how to use products. When I don't know what I'm doing, I research it. Leaving a negative review on a product because you didn't perform well while using it is just plain wrong. I recommend this product because the cutter cuts extremely easily, and the crusher crushes pills very fine. All you do is put the pill in the crusher and rotate back and forth while the pills get crushed. One pill at a time is easiest and fastest. Cutting the pills before crushing them helps but isn't necessary when doing one pill at a time. I hope this helps anyone who needs a 'cutter, crusher' for pills. 5Just About PerfectI needed something that would quickly and easily crush pills into powder, or at least very fine chunks, and Ezy Dose Ezy Crush Pill Crusher does exactly that! Pop the pill, or pills, into the base of the crusher and screw the top down and then loosen, tighten, loosen, tighten a few times and the pills are crushed, and I mean *crushed*! I can't imagine anything anyone could come up with working quicker or easier, well unless there was a motor involved and then it probably wouldn't be as quicker or as simple to use. I'm not the strongest guy and I'm not putting any effort into the tightening, so I'd expect *anybody* to be able to use this.Any downsides? Well, you have to wash the crusher out and dry it. I don't know if it is dishwasher safe, but a quick rinse and dry is easier anyway. Oh, and I have noticed bits of pill will occasionally stick to the plunger, but that just means you need to tighten and loosen a time or two more, at worse, you just tap the plunger and the stuck powder will fall off, so not a real problem.So, again, any downsides? Nope, can't think of any. 5Awesome Crusher!I love this thing. It's great for someone with not much hand strength. I lover the little compartment in the top of it. I use this for a pill I crush up and put in my hot cocoa and I don't even know it's there! This crusher is a life saver! 5Wow! The Best Pill Crusher Ever! Here's Why!This is truly the best pill crusher I have ever used! It helps to think of it as a mortar and pestle (for those of you who always forget which is which, like me, the mortar is the bowl-like receptacle, and the pestle is the thing that you hold in your hand to grind up the stuff which you've put into the mortar :-) ).One of the reasons that this is such a rockin' pill crusher is because the grinding face of the 'pestle' - the part that gets twisted down onto the pills in the 'mortar' - is not smoothly round. Rather it is slightly beveled with very minor angles - imagine if you took a flat circular piece of plastic, scored it into 6 or 8 wedges, and then pushed down on the center to slightly flex the edges of the wedges (hey, that rhymes!) up and away from the center just a little bit.Second, while you might worry about the crushed pill powder sticking to the tip (face) of the 'pestle', the material is very slick, so if any powder adheres to it as you open it up after crushing (which it still may), it very easily knocks off or can be pushed off back into the mortar by scraping the tip of the 'pestle' on the rim of the 'mortar' (I hope that makes sense).This pill crusher is also *very* easy to operate, and comfortable in one's hand.By the way, the 'built-in pill storage' is at the top of the 'pestle' - the white disk is the lid, and the pill storage area is inside the 'pestle', and goes nearly the full length of it; you can fit a lot of pills in there!All in all this pill crusher is *genius*! VERY pleased with it! 5Works great on tiny pillMy cat is Mr. Houdini when trying to get this tiny hypothyroidism pill down his throat the usual way. I tried smashing this tiny pill with a spoon and it popped out of the bowl. The crusher works great...I put the crushed med in my cat's wet food and he gobbles it up. It would probably pulverize it more if I twisted it more, as I only twist it enough to smash the pill to this level. I don't want it to break because of twisting too hard too much. I don't usually reviews, post pics, etc, but since I couldn't find any photos in regards to a pill this small, here's some pics to help someone out. 5A Spectacular Improvement in Technology!This is a pill crusher, OK? It should crush pills into powder. It does do that.But guess what? The flat side of a metal teaspoon and a porcelain bowl do that as well.I should know! That is how I've been crushing my vitamin pills forever--- for at least a decade. Let me tell you, that method works.Let me also tell you, that method is a freaking hassle!First you have to get the right-sized bowl that's flat enough so the back side of the spoon can press into the bottom of the bowl. Then you press down the back of the spoon onto the middle of the pill. But watch out! The pill can scoot out and shoot across the room. Or, the pill can shatter and just a tiny couple pieces can scoot across the room. Even if it doesn't do that, you then have to re-crush the pieces that are still not powder. Again and again. And again. And again..... and again.... Sore wrist and thumb.... Grrrr!!!!Now, contrast that with the Ezy Crush Pill Crusher with Ergo Grip.The crusher has three pieces. It has a top part with a kind of cylindrical plastic pestle that tapers to a gentle point and is threaded like a screw (top side). The partner side (bottom side) is a reservoir that is the perfect inverse of the pestle, and also has screw threads on the outside. These are made of hard plastic. The outside of the unit has softer plastic grippers that look sort of like the gears inside a clock (see photo). The bottom of the crusher, where the reservoir is, is made of see-through plastic-- so you can see if the pill is actually crushed. Finally, in the top part--- inside the pestle--- there is a place to store extra pills. The third piece of the unit is the cover to this storage space. (The three pieces do fully separate from each other, so I suppose there is a miniscule risk of losing part of the device.)How it works is that you drop the pill into the reservoir. Then you insert the pestle into the bottom section via the screw threads. Then you turn the top and screw it into the bottom part until it's tight. That's it! Unscrew the top and you have powder in the reservoir. The handles have a larger radius than the pestle, so you get larger amount of torque--- you have a bigger moment arm. That means you don't have to exert much force in order to get really tremendous pressure inside the pestle. They are also made of softer, comfortable, grippy plastic. It's therefore very easy to turn for old people (not me) and weak people (not me) and lazy people (me!) (That's the Ergo Grip for you!!!!!) Then you just shake out the powder wherever you need it. Screw it back together for storage.A few small glitches I noticed, though, which you might want to be aware of:First, when the unit arrived it smelled a bit of new plastic. I rinsed the unit with Dawn dishwashing detergent and water, and the smell went away.Second, when you crush the pill, if you crush too tightly, the pill will sort of re-crush and then get stuck onto the pestle. You have to flake off the stuck pill on the pestle back into the reservoir. If you're not careful, you could lose some of it.Third, you might need to re-crush it a second or third time to get it totally into fine powder. I figured out a good method. Crush the pill, loosen the thread a little bit (but don't unscrew it totally), shake it around so the pill powder moves around inside the reservoir. Turn the crank again and re-crush it. Do it two or three times in a row. It takes like less than 30 seconds. Really probably less than that. Maybe 15 seconds.Fourth, a tiny bit of pill powder will remain stuck to the inside of the reservoir. This is so very minor to be almost inconsequential. You can scoop out the tiny bit left with your finger, but it really isn't much at all.Overall, this is a REALLY BIG improvement in technology. It has taken a job that was really a time-consuming hassle for me and turned it into something that can be completed easily, cleanly, painlessly (no more sore wrists!) and perfectly in less than 30 seconds.That a five-star to me!Thanks, Ezy Crush Pill Crusher with Ergo Grip!You're the best!!!*sigh* :) 5The Only Pill Crusher You'll Need!I bought this after reading through a lot of reviews and I have to say, it does not disappoint. I normally don't review products but this is great! Our son was born with Congenital Hypothyroidism and diagnosed at 6 days old. He has to be on pills for it the rest of his life (he is now 9 weeks). We have to split and crush his pills and mix them into his breastmilk daily and give them to him via dropper. I originally purchased a pill crusher from the hospital's pharmacy so as not to have to make another stop or shop around for one. That pill crusher always left uneven chunks and never fully crushed the pills we need to crush (which are smaller than a tic tac) leaving me to have to go back and re-crush them with the butt of a butter knife as if I were doing it with a mortar and pestle. I have been very happily using this "Ezy Crush" pill crusher for a few weeks now and have had 0 issues. This thing is a beast! I throw the pill in and turn it until it stops and the pill is pulverized every time and I no longer have to try to re-crush or smash big chunks that weren't taken care of the first time around. I also love the way the top and bottom are cog-like making it extremely easy to hold and twist (I'm sure this would be extremely beneficial to those who are weaker or with arthritis). If you're shopping around and not sure which pill crusher to get, this is most definitely the winner, hands-down! I may get a second one just to keep around for travel. 5
