how my tinnitus made me love concerts even moreI recently started having issues with tinnitus and pain around loud noises after years and years of not using protection at live shows. On recommendation of my BIL, I got a pair of Etymotic plugs and they were ok but not quite the level of protection I needed and they stick out pretty far so every time anything brushed against them (my hair, husband's arm, whatever) I had to adjust. It was very distracting and annoying. Nothing against Etymotic, they are perfectly good plugs just not for me. So I decided to start looking for alternatives. After a couple weeks of research I settled on LiveMusic plugs. I Love Them. They stick out enough to get my fingers on them for easy insertion/removal but not enough to be in the way. I like the 2 different levels of protection and the carrying case (it could be a smidge bigger). I have smallish ears so I got the smaller size and they're just right. I tested them pretty strongly at a Pigeons Playing Ping Pong show and not only was I able to hear and enjoy the whole show I left with no pain or increase in ringing. There are occasionally spots where the higher end of the music gets muted too much but that's usually only when the bass/drums are already overpowering it in the first place. Another plus (and Etymotic plugs do this as well) is that I can carry on conversations at loud bars, concerts, whatever. I can actually hear what my friends/family are saying without trying to read lips or saying "what" 42 times in a row. It's honestly one of my favorite things about plugs (besides not having my ears bleed). I'll probably buy extras in case I lose these, there's a cord but the cord is one of the problems I have with needing to constantly adjust so I don't use it. I may try other brands/styles in the future but for now, these are the plugs for me :) 5No ringing ears after live music. Woot!Recently I discovered a light lingering ringing in my ear after a concert that laster weeks afterward and that was my wake up call. No more going to live music shows without ear protection!I went with a friend to the Zlatne Uste Golden Festival in Brooklyn this past month. and the final band is What Cheer Brigade. If you haven't heard of them, I recommend you look them up or watch a youtube video of them because they're fantastic, but they are also LOUD AS HECK. I bought these plugs for me and my friend and we're both happy to say we left the festival with NO RINGING EARS! We also both agreed that we were still able to enjoy the music and dance with no feelings of missing out.The only thing i would recommend as an improvement is a second necklace string for the 2nd pair that comes in the package.Great product. 5They work...So no five star... They did ship and arrive on time but... there are couple of things that would make this better. First off you have two sets of filters and one lanyard. ... The two sets of plugs and the lanyard barely... hardly fit in the carry case. To make it more functional I would suggest a slightly larger case and two lanyards.That being said the one thing that I have an issue with at especially outdoor concerts is the people around me talking. At times it seems louder to me than the music. I did buy these plugs in the hopes that I could once again enjoy outdoor music and .... I have to say they work pretty well. I would pull them out during the show and immediate i heard all the talking around me, pop them in and the music became the focus again... A few small tweeks and this product would be a five star in my book... 4Good for very loud live musicI'm a musician in a pretty loud band. The ability to hear music with a balanced frequency reduction is crucial for me. I have tried many brands of earplugs over the years, including $200 custom fit plugs. I'd say these are as good as any I've tried. Some plugs I've used in the past have had a decibel reduction that was too low and my ears would feel fatigued pretty quickly during a set. This brand comes with two sets of plugs, the green tipped ones being those with the lower decibel reduction, for those who prefer that. While playing live music I only use the white tipped pair. The one thing that a The one thing that a potential buyer of this product should know is that they do seem to run a bit small. I know from experience that my ear canals run on the very narrow side and the smaller option of these plugs is almost slightly too small. Nonetheless they work and I am just careful not to jam them in too deep. I have no experience with the larger size so I can't comment on how they would fit. I did also try another brand sold here on Amazon called downbeats and those were way too big for my narrow ear canals. Hope this is helpful! 5Just what I neededI recently retired from the military and left some of my hearing behind. I wanted to avoid further hearing loss in my new job as an airline pilot. I have owned these plugs for about 6-months and carry them in my pocket daily (whether I m flying or not). I use them all the time: driving, walking down the street, in a noisy restaurant, in and around the airplane I fly. They are great because they allow me to hear conversation more clearly yet block the damaging noise. They are especially helpful in the cockpit when I sometimes have to crack up the volume on my radio headset in order to understand foreign air traffic controllers yet want to avoid damage to my hearing. They are very comfortable but do itch after a time as all earplugs I ve worn do.I have only had one problem thus far. The stem of one of my plugs popped out by itself shortly after buying them. I just pushed it back in without thinking much of it. However, a few months later, one popped out again but this time leaving the silicon shell stuck in my ear. My wife was able to easily get it out with tweezers. I wrote to the company and they responded immediately by sending out a replacement pair. These plugs were used extensively without any noticeable wear. I suspect the stem fell out because of a slight manufacturing intolerance so I m not worried about it happening again. It was great to work with a company who stands behind their product. 5A must-buy for weekend warriors and techno enthusiasts!I am an electronic dance music enthusiast, so I frequent nightclubs and music festivals where decibel levels are far too high to maintain healthy hearing without ear plugs. In the past, I have used the Alpine MusicSafe ear plugs for noise reduction, so these will be my point of reference when reviewing this product.Compared to the Alpine plugs, the fit of these can be a lot more finnicky. I originally purchased the Standard size and observed no detectable sound reduction, either when clapping (as suggested in the instructions as a test) or in a club setting. The performance was so poor that I requested a refund, but the manufacturer was kind enough to send me a Large size product free of charge (A+ for stellar customer service). The larger size fit my ears perfectly and provide a robust seal with excellent attenuation. So for prospective customers, pay attention to the sizing! This being said, when the size is correct, these plugs actually fit a lot more snugly than the Alpine product. I find myself removing them fewer times over the course of a night out, although it takes a lot of trial and error to find the optimal way of inserting them into my ears so that they don't fall out.In my opinion, the filters on these plugs are FAR superior to those on the Alpine set. Midrange sounds and melodies come through clearly with no discernible muffling or distortion, while the overall levels are dramatically reduced. I had previously mentally resigned myself to living with an inferior live music experience when wearing ear plugs due to past experiences with muffled audio or altered EQ from the Alpine filters, but this is no longer the case! The sound is just as crisp as without the plugs on, but with no ear fatigue and without the "sonic hangover" of constantly ringing ears the next morning.All in all, a stellar product for live music lovers looking for high fidelity ear protection without the cost of custom molded plugs. 5Best protection and most user-friendly musician's plugsI used Alpine Musicians Earplugs for years, but found that the noise reduction was not enough for me as I still had a low ringing in my ears after a few hours at a loud show. I searched for musicians earplugs that had the greatest amount of noise reduction, and found these. These are really terrific. The noise reduction is just under the amount provided by a typical solid foam earplug. That's pretty amazing considering that these are musicians earplugs and let you continue to hear a good dynamic range of the music, but with the loud noises reduced. Plus they have a very low profile (lower even than my old Alpines) and are practically unnoticeable in your ear. The support staff are among the best around. I initially bought the large size plugs but was not feeling sure if they were fitting as well as the small size might. So I contacted the staff and the immediately sent me a pair of the small size to try, which fit me better. These are the best musicians plugs I've found. They are super comfortable, really easy to use, discreet, and best of all they over an extremely high level of ear protection while still letting you hear the full dynamic range of the music as well as clear conversation with other people. 5Picking the Right Ear Protection for the JobI picked these up after doing some High Fidelity research. Knowing different situations require different protection, I like the fact that these came with two Noise Reduction Ratio (NRR) levels allowing me to pick the right one for the job glad I did. I learned a few things along the road since getting then:1. LiveMus!c Green High Fidelity Plugs - I have used them for long car rides that allow me to still hear music and carry on a conversation, and it can make the car ride more pleasant. I also use them at bars when a bands thinks the louder they are, the better they are. I also use these at NHL games.2. LiveMus!c White High Fidelity Plugs - I have used them when sitting in the actual stands at the drag race event, and they still allowed me to enjoy the event and hold a conversation, but it was not enough protection standing when standing 15 feet away from the starting line. These are probably perfect for indoor concerts.3. LiveMus!c High Fidelity Plug Sizing Typically when you get a set of headphone earbuds, you get three rubber buds (small, medium, large). If you use the small earbuds, then get the regular sized LiveMus!c ear plugs. If you use the medium or large earbuds, get the large LiveMus!c ear plugs.4. Hearos Ultimate Softness Series Foam Earplugs - I still use them when mowing the lawn and have no intentions of talking to anyone. As noted above, I switched to these when standing 15 feet away from the drag race starting line..A couple of other comments worth noting: I made a mistake on my original order and customer service was pleasantly quick to respond and assist. I often forget to bring these with me, so I keep them in the car so they are usually available. Like foam plugs, you will hear yourself talk, but just not as bad as foam plugs. There is no such thing as a perfect High Fidelity Plugs, so its important to manage exceptions when buying this brand or another brand. I m rather impressed with this product for what it does. 5(Updated review) Difficult to remove these earplugs from earsUpdate June 28, 2017: I contacted customer support from the vendor's website and told them my experience of the earplugs getting stuck and being difficult to remove. They were very helpful and sent a replacement set of larger sized earplugs. So I've updated my review to 5 stars. I've used other brands of earplugs in standard size and had no problem, but with this product the large size does fit better.It was very difficult to remove these earplugs from my ears due to the very short stem. In frustration I wound up using tweezers to pull out the plugs which is not safe and definitely not convenient. Attaching the string cord makes it easier to remove the plugs, but who wants to wear a cord around your neck while at a concert or other event? Just make the stems a bit longer! If the cord use is recommended, then the manufacturer should say so in the "How to Use" instructions on the package and should make it clear on the product description here on Amazon. On the contrary, the instructions for use on the package do not even mention the string cord. (The tiny video on Amazon does silently demo the cord use for storage, but does not show someone actually using the plugs.) Further, once the cord is attached to the plugs (with rubber cups on the end of the cord) it is difficult to separate the cord from the plugs - it's a very tight fit. This is a positive feature since you want to pull on the cord to remove them, but there are two sets of plugs with different attenuation but only one cord. It's a real pain to switch the cord between the two sets of plugs. They should include two cords in the package, imo, or simply lengthen the stems. I've used Etymotic brand "musician" earplugs which are effective and have longer stems making them much easier to remove. I was hoping the HearSafe plugs might be even better, but I will rarely if ever use them. (I wrote an email to the manufacturer. If they reply I will update this review.) Note that this product CANNOT be returned to Amazon. 5Life Cl...hangerI purchased this ear protection not for music reasons but due to the fact that I suffered a TBI with PCS (Traumatic Brain Injury with Post Concussion Syndrome) I experience extreme sound sensitivity. I was relying on the foam earplugs for 10 mos and came across this product. All I have to say is that they are a Godsend!!I can't tell you how as a mother to hate the sound of your children's voices makes you feel (even through the foam plugs)...the guilt and shame I felt was unbelievable... These earplugs changed that for me! My kids can make as much noise as they want now, playing and having fun without any pain for me!!As well, I believe that my brain rests a lot more not cringing and having to struggle with different environments...Which is the point...rest and less stimulation equals healing with TBI.Awesome customer service as well... very accommodating!! 5
