Moen Flip Up Grab Bar - PerfectBefore bringing my 92 yr. mother home to live with us, we needed to make her bathroom ADA compatible. Besides installing a roll in shower unit, the Moen Flip Up Bar was to be an essential part of making the bathroom safe and convenient for Mom. This piece of hardware has lived up to every expectation. Anchored to a wall stud, it provides the ultimate in stability and safety. The tissue holder conveniently provides the roll within reach. When the bar is not in use, it swings up out of the way, locking into a holding bracket on the wall. Could not be happier over its performance and the peace of mind it provides. 5It's been the best help, and I can swing it upward out ...We put this on the wall next to our bed so my husband could use it to help him get in and out of bed. He has Parkinson's. It's been the best help, and I can swing it upward out of my way when I make the bed. It's supposed to be used next to a toilet, but we found a better use. It's super sturdy, doesn't wiggle at all. Love it! 5Grab barpurchased to help complete process of taking care of ill wife. Installed with different usage as designed and it is working out great. I put this in for my aging mother by the toilet to help her get up and down after her fall. The installation isn t easy because of the wide mounting surface. I didn t want to tear out the drywall to add additional support so I just used two 3/4 inch plywood pieces on the drywall spanning two studs then secured the mount to the plywood. I upgraded the hardware to 3/16 stainless steel lag bolts but the ones that came with it were quite good. Overall it looks pretty bad with the plywood but if I painted the wood to match the drywall I think it would blend in a lot better. I am satasifed with the results tho and recommend this. It could also be used other places but has the toilet paper holder which might be undesirable. 4Very sturdy and worth the money. Needs 2x8 behind for anchoringAwesome quality. I used this for my father next to the hot tub and he can put all his weight on this and easily get into the tub now. This is pretty wide, so you will need to throw a 2x8 behind this. This will never work for your bathroom unless you re-frame behind it. Plan on tearing your drywall down to hang this properly. 5Helpful fold-up grab bar.I bought two of these grab bars for my wife to use getting up from the toilet which is spaced too far away from the bathroom vanity for it to be of help. She is a stroke survivor and can only use her right hand and arm. The bar does exactly what I wanted it to do and also folds up out-of-the-way when not needed. Accessibility of the paper roll is greatly enhanced and very good. 5Good product BUT....After researching grab bars for my elderly mom to use when using the toilet, I decided on this product. Sturdy and effective BUT buyer beware, installing it will be not as simple as 1, 2, 3. The holding plate is wide and requires attaching it to a wall stud. I had to move out my stove, cut into the sheet rock in the area behind where the toilet is located, surmise where the grab bar plate would be installed, add wood to serve as foundation for the screws and bolts. When all said and done, the product does work and is not intrusive once flipped up. Would recommend but with an installation warning. 4
