Good Prenatal....... See Photos For Comparison To AnotherI bought these Nature Made Prenatal Multivitamins during a coupon and via Subscribe and Save. 250 pills for under $9 makes for a fantastic value. They arrived sealed and as described. No color added, no preservatives, no yeast, and gluten free. They are recommended to be taken one pill, once a day.At the time I was taking these, Rainbow Light Prenatal One Multivitamin, 150-Count Bottle which I'd purchased through another online retailer. For reference, the Rainbow Light vitamins were the first prenatal I'd ever taken and I'm not pregnant. My husband and I are hoping to get pregnant though so I started taking prenatals to prepare my body for a healthy pregnancy. Like most women, I felt a whole lot better when I started taking them. I took regular multivitamins before but they don't compare. The Rainbow Light ones have a type of iron that is more easily absorbed. When I stopped taking them and switched over to these Nature Made ones, I was back to my old low-iron type side effects. I don't test for having low iron but I can tell when it's low, for one because my feet get so freezing cold, almost nothing can warm them up.My thin nails also started breaking more easily again. I trust the Nature Made name when it comes to vitamins so I'll likely buy these again, especially since the price is so reasonable. The other costs about double and you get about 100 pills less. But, if you can afford it, I think it's worth the benefits (little things for me but I figure how much more for the baby?).The expiration date on mine was over two years out. I'm uploading some photos so you can compare the two brands, if you want to see the differences, there are many. Overall I like the Nature Made ones but will be watching for a coupon to come available on the other. Smile. Hope this is helpful! 4Strong fishy odorI ve been taking these vitamins for a couple years. I took them for several months before I got pregnant, while pregnant, and still now at ten months pp while nursing. They have always had a fruity smell, but my last two bottles have had a very strong fishy smell. I m not even pregnant and the odor makes me nauseous. I couldn t even take them. I threw the first bottle away and hoped it was a mistake and ordered another a couple months later and it still has the terrible smell. I don t know what changed with this product but it was much better before. I don t know if they ve got a bad batch or what. I hope it s fixed in the future because these were always my favorite prenantal! 1Contains gelatin and source is PORKIt would have been nice for them to include a list of accurate ingredients in the product discription. I ordered this only to see Gelatin on the label and found out that the source is pork from searching online. I returned it because I don t consume pork products. Such a waste of my time! Could have been much smoother if they just had a list of ingredients on this page. 1New formula they're shipping out for this one has bad fish smell.I used to love this vitamin. I took it with my first kid and it was easy to take and didn't make me feel sick. I'm now taking the same one for my second pregnancy. The first 90 days I took it, was great. But the second shipment I got of it, they changed the formula. They don't say online it's a new formula. But this last batch of vitamins smells horribly of fish. When you touch it, your fingers smell like fish after several washes. The first time I did take it, it left a bad fish taste in mouth for a while as well. The smell of it alone makes me feel sick enough I can't bring myself to take it again. I really loved this vitamin but since they changed the formula, it's not bearable for me to take any longer. Now I have to find a new one, unfortunately. 2EnergizingMy OBGYN recommended I start taking prenatals vitamins b/c we're planning on "trying" next year. She said it didn't really matter if we went cheap or expensive; they're generally all the same ingredients. So I researched a bunch of them and settled on these. I can't speak to any pregnancy-related benefits, as we're not there yet, but I have a ton of energy! I've been taking them for about 5-6 weeks now, and I've also stopped drinking coffee, but I feel very healthy and energetic. No bad side effects that I've noticed. 5You'll be tasting like you peeled fish scales and laid them on your ...NAAAAASTY. Pregnant twice, breastfed for years and have taken several prenatals. As soon as the lid pops off, be prepared for your entire kitchen to be infused ripe trout. Once in your mouth and tossed way to the back of your throat, it's too late. You'll be tasting like you peeled fish scales and laid them on your tongue. It's just nasty. When there are so many more great vitamins for a reasonable price, there's no need to put yourself through this daily for years. 1Best Prenatal AroundI am a pharmacist (BA in chemistry and Doctorate in pharmacy) and I spent a TON of time researching prenatals. I mean a TON. I was on drug databases that I have access to at work, read through forums on baby websites and this prenatal is the best that I could come across. This prenatal vitamin (PNV) was the only brand that I could find that was USP certified- thus meaning, it passes a dissolution test which proves that the vitamins contained within the PNV will be available for your body to absorb and utilize for your potential or growing baby! The tablets are not too large where they are tough to swallow and they do not have an odor associated with them.I decided to get the formulation without the DHA because that product is not USP certified. I buy a separate liquid DHA/EPA supplement.I am a pharmacist for Walgreens and even with my employee discount these vitamins are cheaper on Amazon! Great product and I recommend to my patients when they are looking for a suggestion on a PNV. PNV can even be taken as a daily multi-vitamin. You do not have to be pregnant or trying to get pregnant! 5Beware of empty softgels!!!I have been taking Nature Made Prenatal Multi+DHA vitamins throughout my entire pregnancy and breastfeeding period. After opening a brand new package, that appeared appropriately sealed, I found the first softgel to be an empty shell that had no vitamin contents. I thought this was just a fluke and threw it away. 2 days later I grabbed out another empty softgel. I am now questioning the actual contents and quality of Nature Made vitamins. These pills have appeared the same, but felt lighter than normal. When I squeezed the capsule, I was able to tell there wasn't anything in it. I am wondering if the pills I have taken in the past have actually contained what the labels claims. This is very disappointing as a mother that planned on continuing to take these prenatal vitamins for many future years to come. 1Great quality, quantity and priceI am a nurse and I did a ton of research on these. I saw a lot of reviews from healthcare professionals also. I am not pregnant but I take this as a regular multivitamin. These are a liquigel and are not that big and easy to swallow. I am sensitive to vitamins and get nausea so I take vitamins at night usually but I can take these in the morning on an empty stomach and no nausea. I do have MTHFR and these do have folic acid not folate but I have lived my whole life not knowing and I survived all the fortified grains and pastas and 2 babies I think I will live. I do take a methylated B complex so that should help. I was taking the Honest Company brand ( which are great) prenatal because they were the only cheaper alternative with methylated folate but even at 20 bucks for 30 days it was breaking my bank. These are great quality, quantity (2 months) and inexpensive and provide more vitamins than most. Sorry but very few supplements are worth the extra money. More expensive does not mean better. Don't buy into the sales pitches people. 5but i do not feel comfortable taking anymore of these vitaminsI received these in the mail and noticed that there is a a weird typo on the label, so it made me slightly suspicious. I did however use them for a few weeks and when i reached in the bottle to grab a vitamin out, it was different than the other vitamins in the bottle. It was light pink instead of the light brown color that all of the other ones were. I'm not sure if the bottle was tampered with, but i do not feel comfortable taking anymore of these vitamins! 1
