Customer Reviews

Does the job... for a whileI've been using this for a few weeks now and I can say it does what it's supposed to do - keep your toes up to alleviate the morning pain associated with plantar fasciitis. But... the bottom of the boot will curve over time so the heel and the toes are at the ends of the U shaped boot. I don't think this is the way the item is supposed to be worn, but it continues to be effective as far as the morning pain. The straps are nice in that the boot is fully adjustable and if you criss-cross the velcro straps (as opposed to wearing them as pictured) then you can get a firm grasp and no sliding of the foot overnight - be careful not to tighten too much and cut off circulation, though! The ice pad is a nice touch, but the coolness doesn't last long (but then, I hear you should not ice for over 15 min, so I guess it lasts long enough?)My main peeve is the hard plastic that supports the boot from behind. This makes it hard to find a comfortable position at night and this, added to the heat generated by the gray fabric, could make your night an uncomfortable one. Considering that you will need to wear this for at least a couple of weeks, maybe you need to find an alternative. I purchased another boot without the straps, which is a lot more comfortable to wear, but the fabric stretches and it's hard to keep the heel in place all night. I've been switching the two at different intervals and this has been helpful, but some pain still remains after 4 weeks. This treatment, in combination with physical therapy and toe exercises (grabbing marbles with toes and moving them from left to right for about 15 minutes; picking up fabric from the floor with your toes) are supposed to be the cure. My two physical therapy sessions (deep massages from toe to knee)made the pain disappear for days so I suggest you try this in addition to the boots. Heel pain remains after 4 weeks but rest of foot has improved considerably after wearing these. 3Mediocre at bestBought this for my plantar faciatis. It is very comfortable but not really stiff enough. I did like the cold pack that comes with it. Also the "velcro-like" straps that go around near the toes and the middle of the ankle wore out or kind of quit working fairly fast so now it loosens and almost comes off in the middle of the night. It would work during the day when you can continually reattach the straps, but would not recommend it if you were just looking for one to wear at night. 2You'll need to make a few modificationsI bought the brace after suffering from plantar fascitis for over a year. The pain was worst when I got up in the morning and hobbled into the bathroom. I had purchased a similar nighttime plantar-stretching product from an ad in the back of Runner's World, but it kept slipping off during the night, so I tried this. The results were instantaneous. No more pain in the morning, and much less pain during the day. Even after running, the pain simply went away. The brace was comfortable, and the XL fit my size 13 foot well. So why four stars? The problem is the Velcro tape on the straps, which are far too flimsy to hold the brace on for any length of time. If I tried to tighten the brace to get a good stretch, I would wake up with the straps flopping around and the brace hanging on loosely. I went to the sewing store, bought strong Velcro tape and sewed it onto the straps. Now I can adjust the brace to hold my foot at an acute angle, which really helps get rid of the soreness.I should say that the brace has not cured my plantar fascitis. But it has made life a lot more pleasant, and I've been able to start running again. 4Amazing resultsI had read the reviews prior to purchase and most were pleased with this product. I had such pain in my heels that I needed to try something. From the first night I wore the splint- amazing results. I continue to wear it every night and no longer dread that first step out of bed. I can't believe how great this worked for me. I would recommend this product, the only problem I see is the bottom piece starting to bow in the middle. I believe this was mentioned in another review. I am able to stay on my feet all day without the pain I had prior to using this product. I would not recommend wearing the splint without a sock, it can rub in certain areas and cause a sore. This was the first splint I had tried, I tried heel pads and other inserts in my footwear, but they didn't work as great as this does. 5Great ProductI have planters Fasciitis, and was given a very expensive brace to wear at night by my doctor. It sucked. I could not sleep at night, and would have to remove the brace after two hours of fitful sleep. I purchased this brace after reading customer reviews, and it is a very comfortable product compared to the one the doctor gave me. I can now sleep through the night. It definitely helps with my planters fasciitis, and I wake up with less heel pain. On sizing, they definitely run large. If in doubt, go with the smaller one. I am a size 12 shoe, and I ordered the large. It was way to big. I wore it for three weeks, and decided to order the medium. The medium fits no problem. 5Absolutely amazing for little feet recovering from surgery!!!I had been diagnosed with a tarsal coalition in my left foot and just had surgery done 3 weeks ago to correct it. In addition to putting pins in my heel and a bone fusion to reset my foot correctly, the achilles tendon had to be cut in 3 places to allow it to stretch correctly in the new position. I am recovering with three incisions, the worst one being in the heel. I was put in a fiberglass cast and told to elevate constantly and apply ice off and on to reduce swelling.Let me tell you, casts suck! Mine would rub both ankle bones to the point that they were red and swollen. The elevation of resting the heel of my foot put pressure on the incision and would send shooting pain throughout my entire foot, especially in the middle of the night when the pain meds wore off. To boot, I am claustrophobic and can't stand to have any part of my body constricted...plain and simple, the cast had to go! My surgeon requires my foot to be immobilized and at a 90 degree angle (which the cast was not). In addition to that, I needed something soft and comfortable that I could remove to clean my sutures, something that would not aggravate the incision on the heel during elevation and something small enough to fit me (I am a woman's size 4.5).Low and behold, I found this splint! And it comes with a built-in but removable ice pack...HUGE BONUS! I LOVE IT! It is very comfortable and much lighter than a fiberglass cast. Another Amazon customer complained about the velcro on the straps not being strong enough...mine has industrial velcro and is very strong and you can move them anywhere on the strap for your comfort. The splint itself is extremely comfortable, so much that I don't want to take it off. The adjustable straps allow me to put my foot at the required 90 degree angle and if I am feeling really sporty and want to stretch the achilles tendon a bit more, the splint comes with a removable foam wedge that can be placed under the toes pushing them up a bit further and stretching the arch. I ordered a small and was worried that it would not fit correctly. The small will comfortably fit a woman between the sizes of 3.5 and 6. This splint is an absolute god send and worth every penny! I would give it 10 stars if I could. 5Finally ParadiseAfter trying 2 soft splints (one being the Futuro product) and reading about dozens of traditional splints the N'ice Stretch product is a keeper. It is very comfortable and light and better yet adjustable. The first night of wear I managed to keep in on ALL night without discomfort whereas the soft splints had to be so tight to achieve the proper foot alignment that it cut off the circulation on my foot. The only grip one could have its that using velcro on the straps means that it is not very durable long-term. I wish they used the straps instead. Overall very good prd. 4... for a few nights but already my foot feels better. The pain from the PF in my left ...I have only used this brace for a few nights but already my foot feels better. The pain from the PF in my left foot was becoming unbearable until this arrived. I use the ice pack with the brace in the evening while I sit watching tv then take it out when it's time for bed. It has made the need for my compression heel sleeve far less during the day. I have put the Staussburgh Sock in the drawer. This is my go-to pal.It was awkward getting used to it at first. Sleeping in a boot can be like that. And the other reviews about the sizing are correct. It runs a size too big. Mine is huge. I figure it will be fine in the winter when I have wool socks on but it is too big. I recommend this to anyone with PF issues. You should try it. 5A Bit BigI originally purchased a dorsal brace to deal with my plantar fasciitis. Initially it worked well. But the problem with the dorsal brace is that its angle can not be changed. So after a few weeks of use it ceased to work. We tried & tried, but ended up putting it on so tight that it hut, with in turn meant I didn't wear it. Which in turn meant I was in MORE pain!I decided that I needed to get back on Amazon & look at what else was available. I was leery at fist as this thing is so big! But once put on & strapped in, it fits well to the foot & is comfortable to wear. It is also cool & does not make me hot; another fear I had. I also took the advise of a previous reviewer & crossed the two black side Velcro straps to make an 'X'. This helps with changing the angle. I have been able to slightly change the angle every nite & I am getting up in the morning with NO pain! I am so happy! Now, the only complaint I have; the sizing. I purchased a Large, as the size chart says that is for a Woman's size 10. When I have the boot on with my heal securely in the back, there are over 2 inches of boot sticking out witch does effect the strap that goes over my toes. I would recommend getting a size smaller, especially if you are on the small side of the size chart. 4This could have been made better--Take a look at their Brownmed Cool Stretch Tension Night SplintI ordered this Brownmed model and their Brownmed Cool Stretch Tension Night Splint. The Cool Stretch model doesn't have the side straps like this one and that one is fixed at a 90 degree angle. Both of these splints have a cleverly designed ice pack that folds so that it fits your foot and ankle nicely. Neither of them are designed for walking but I think that they should be able to get me to and from the bathroom in the middle of the night. The Original (this one) flexes at the ankle, making quick trips to the bathroom easier, HOWEVER, the bottom sole of this one is covered with t-shirt type knit fabric that's just glued on in some places and is stitched on in other places. This fabric looks like it would snag or come off after a few trips across the hall. Even the friction of getting out of bed and putting your feet on the floor could snag this stuff. Putting this splint on and taking it off is slightly cumbersome because of where the side straps have to be fastened. The black side straps are velcro. The black calf strap is a little bit heavier and has a buckle on it but it's still pretty flimsy. The velcro pieces on the padded straps all look glued on.The sole of the Cool Stretch (the other one) is a hard plastic with small vinyl or neoprene treads on it. The straps are sturdy nylon with buckles instead of velcro. The padded straps have velcro that's sewn on. The Cool Stretch looks better made than this model. Even though it doesn't flex at the ankle, I'm sending the Original back and I'm keeping the Cool Stretch. If my doctor says that I need more stretch than the 90 degrees, I can add a small dry sponge to the wedge that comes with it. 2
