I got a good price on itI was undergoing physical therapy from a torn Achilles tendon and ankle ligament. The therapist started having me use on of these. When my therapy ended because I am in less pain and able to do the exercises they gave me from home, I decided to order one of these to use at home as well. It helps a lot, and I started having issues with plantar fascitis because of putting so much of my weight on the opposite foot from the one with the tears. This helps stretch the entire foot. I got a good price on it. 5Very helpful deviceI have chronic plantar fasciitis due to collapsed arches and an active lifestyle. Not one to let foot pain slow me down, I have bought a variety of devices in an attempt to reduce the irritation. This one is helpful. I keep it at my desk at work and stretch my calves throughout the day. My calves stay looser this way, which lessens the pain in the feet. I suspect that calf tightness is really the main culprit for the foot pain. Other devices that have helped me include lacrosse balls (I roll one underfoot to massage the fascia on the feet), Superfeet and Powerstep brand orthotic arch supports, and a long band for stretching out the leg (when lying on my back). Between all these things I am doing ok. Bottom line: I recommend this device!! 5The item is deceiving........because you can rock all the way back to stretch your calves, but do not try to go forward or your foot will slide right out of it. It really can only be used to rock back... and another problem is you must wear this with very sturdy shoes!!! I have a light pair of canvas sneakers that I could not use on this because of the extreme pressure it put on my heel when I rocked back.I had to change to shoes that had a very supportive hard back on them to be comfortable.I find that standing on my steps with the ball of my feel and lowering my heel down gives me a greater stretch without that pressure on my heels. Use stairs to stretch your calves as this product has a lot of cons.2GOT PF? GET THIS!If you suffer from chronic heel pain due to PF (plantar faciitis), you can immediately improve your situation by ordering this and USING IT DAILY, as per the directions in the box. In addition to night bracing, semi-rigid arch supports, and in some cases, personal weight loss, this device forms the foundation of your treatment program to overcome/manage your PF.Can you stretch your calf muscles/ achilles tendon without it? YES, you can use a stairwell or set of steps or just stretch against a wall like runners do. BUT, you will not get as intense and targeted a stretch as this inexpensive gizmo will give you. Right now, this is the best bang for the buck.Downsides? You have to wear shoes when using it. You also have to use it near a wall to brace yourself so that you do not lose your balance. You can only stretch one leg at a time (unless you spring for two of these). Those might be downsides.At this price, there's no reason not to have at least one of these, I have one at home and one in my office, which means there's no excuse not to get my calf-stretching in on a daily basis. This thing is made out of hard plastic and supports my 250# frame daily for the past 3 years, so it's built well and made to last.I highly recommend this purchase for everyone with PF. 5Amazing at helping me Recover!I'm a runner and getting back into triathlons. I had an ankle injury when I was younger that somewhat limited my mobility in that ankle. With the help of this, I'm able to stretch and also do calve raises that hit certain angles I would be able to on a machine. I was injured from running for 2 months and when I ordered this, it made my leg stronger thus I feel I was able to recover faster. I also bought compression on Amazon for my calves and knees which also help! If you know anything about the kinetic chain in your body, the ankles are the ending point for anything shooting up your leg so its important to keep it strong and flexible! 5Works Great For Occasional AttacksInexpensive alternative to orthotics or physical therapy. Love it. I only get sporadic attacks of plantar fasciitis maybe once every six months. Even so, it is extremely painful and I am, for all intents and purposes, lame. After my first attack a relative bought me a contraption you wear while you sleep that stretches your toes toward your upper body ( looks like you are wearing elf shoes once you're strapped into this gizmo). Even though it was effective, I didn't care for it. With the foot rocker, if I have an attack I just do a couple of sets of the stretches and I'm fine until the next attack which might be 8 or 9 months later. Very convenient, effective and cheap..cheap..cheap. If you have plantar fasciitis which is continual perhaps my review might not be relevant to you. If, however, it's just a sometime and not too often thing with you I can definitely recommend it.Update: 3-13-16. I've noted a number of people have complained about this product not being appropriate for larger feet. If it might help someone to know, I wear a men's size 11 and it works for me. I would suggest taking it slowly with your stretches and being cautious however. With a larger foot, the feeling of precariousness is pretty strong and I think it would be very easy to overdo it.5Great post-workout stretch for tennis playersMy kids play tennis 5-6 times per week and were developing some leg cramping and foot problems. We have added this as a stretch they both do when they get home and it has helped a lot. The product is made of very durable plastic and I don't think it will get damaged. My only thoughts are that I wish it could be used without shoes since it would be nice to just add a stretch in when you're hanging out at home (we don't normally wear shoes in the house), but it is a little rigid for this and made to work with shoes on. I also wish it didn't cost so much so I would be more comfortable buying a second one, but I can tell that it is well made and I do believe the price is justified.5Finally!! A gadget that works!Ok so plantar fasciitis for 9 months both feet one worse than the other. Did orthotics, socks, exercises, shots, and physical therapy. Physical therapist suggested this gadget. I was game since nothing had worked so far well the shots did for about 1 week, used the rocker every night before bed and every morning before starting the day. After about two weeks it worked! I no longer have the severe pain, just residual heel pain but nothing like I had!!! Worth the purchase!!!5Works Great, Fun Way to Exercise and Keep Heels of Feet Pain FreeThis is a terrific gadget to use for an extremely reasonable price, I first came across years ago for so much more money when problems with my heels started. Well, I did return it finding to be too expensive for me and went to the podiatrist instead to get the help needed. I've been lucky only needing treatment for painful plantar faschitis twice, but decided after seeing this gadget decided to purchase again at a more reasonable price now that I have more experience with this painful problem. I do recommend because it is a really fun way to get the proper exercise necessary to help work through this problem with little effort and help prevent painful shots and visits to the foot doc. Highly recommend. 5What's the advantage over traditional calf stretching methods?Works OK, and a lot cheaper than the similar "brand name" alternatives. It provides a dynamic stretch, by rocking back and forth slowly. But it's a little short (I wear 11.5 men's shoes), so my toes hang over a bit. Also since I get the most benefit from stretching barefoot (to engage the toes more), I find the corrugated surface a bit rough on my bare soles.After a month, I no longer use this much. Maybe I'm missing something, but I see little advantage over the traditional methods of arch/achilles/calf stretching, which require no equipment and I've used for years: 1) either hanging the feet off a step or 2) standing one foot forward, one back, while leaning forward against a wall (once with rear knee straight, once bent.) Those methods can be performed anywhere, anytime during the day (e.g. when waiting or climbing stairs). Also they are more stable than the rocker which gives me more control to precisely calibrate the amount of pressure.Truthfully, the best stretching method may be whichever one you will be motivated to perform regularly. If having a device helps motivation you, go for it. 3Worked out greatI was very skeptical about this boot, but after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did. For the calf the wedges work better, but this gets more of the leg.First I stand on tippie top with the opposite leg next to the rocker and stretch up and up, sometimes get a pop in back (heal not down completely in this movement)Then I step back with that foot and bring the heal down as far as I can , then with straight flat back and elbowspointing upward and towards the sky I slowly lower as far as I can to the count of 30 or more. Really nice stretch in the lower back, sometimes pops. Slowly come out of it. 5Great for stretching calf musclesI have had some painful foot issues, my doctor sent me to a physical therapist and a podiatrist to fix the problem. Both said I had a lot of tension in my calf muscle and it needed to be stretched out because it caused a stress fracture on my foot. This foot rocker was my saving grace, it was by far the most useful tool and technique for me, to finally stretch my muscle out enough to not have constant every day pain. The first time I used this it was painful, I couldn't stretch very far or very long, but the more I used this, the better it got. Now I only use this every few days to keep stretched out, but during the peek, I was on this multiple times throughout the day. For those with balance issues, I'd suggest stretching next to a stationary chair, or something else that you can hold onto and not tip over. (No, I'm not an elderly person either) This was my saving grace and I highly recommend this as a tool to help anyone get a calf muscle stretched out (of course consult with your doctor as needed) 5
