This truly helps awful period cramps!!!I have seriously horrible period cramps for 24 to 48 hours every single month -- like curl up in a ball, 'please leave me here to die' type pain. Even with all the OTC pain meds I could take, I was still having trouble being functional, especially at work. I recently started seeing ads for the start-up Livia and wondered if it might actually work. Then I read articles that said Livia is basically a fancy (and expensive) TENS unit and I decided to try a well-rated and more affordable option. I am so glad I did! This does not take all of the pain away (I'm not sure anything can) -- but it allows me to be functional and concentrate at work and it also allows me to reduce the amount of OTC pain meds I need (which is better for my body and stomach). I'd say this little device alone completely alleviates half of my pain, which is beyond amazing after years of no relief. I wish I'd know about it earlier! I also love how discrete it is -- I just tuck the unit in my pocket and the wire tucks in around my waistline. I've used it for six cycles now and it's been a life changer. I've just started using my second pair of electrode pads (the first set's stickiness finally gave out after around 100 hours of use over five cycles -- fine by me!). This is absolutely worth giving a chance if you have horrible cramps like I do! 5Great little machine!I'm very happy with this purchase. I have chronic back pain after a car accident and was given a TENS unit by my doctor to help with the pain. I've moved twice since then and at some point it was lost. I asked my doctor about getting another one but my health insurance doesn't cover it and it's $1,200 to buy on my own.So I went to Amazon. I wasn't expecting much for something that costs a fraction of the cost of the other device I had but I was pleasantly surprised. When you first turn it on you'll notice 6 modes, one that shows hands, one that, terrifyingly, shows a needle, one that shows a stomach, one that shows a head, one with feet, and one with ears. The instructions aren't terribly detailed so I just stuck the pads on my back and played around til I found a setting that I liked. It happens to be the feet around 50% intensity. When you first turn it on you'll notice a 1 in a circle, press the center button to select from different options within that massage mode. Press the M button to choose a different mode, press T to increase the time, and the + and - buttons change the intensity. Press and hold the center button to lock the screen as it is so you don't accidentally press a button. The charge appears to last an incredibly long time, I used it for about 4 hours yesterday and it still hasn't come off of full. It is a rechargeable battery, a plus over my $1,200 unit that ran off of a 9v battery (who uses those anymore?).The unit comes with 4 sets of pads in 3 different sizes, an option that I absolutely love.So far I've recommended this to 3 coworker after they inquired about the cords coming from my back and they all sound interested, a non medicated way to help with pain is always helpful, especially with the current opioid crisis in the US.The box includes a charging cable and block (USB), two sets of electrode cords with 2 attachments, one electrode cord with 4 attachments, 2 small electrodes, 4 medium electrodes, and 2 large electrodes, as well as an electrode placement guide and a plastic piece to store the electrodes on (though I've just been putting them back on the plastic backing they come on). 5We have received two units. The first would not ...I would like to update my review. First of all, thank you Nursal for taking customer service seriously and to the next level.Primarily used by my wife, she is VERY SATISFIED with the flexibility of settings and the end result of muscle relaxation and an improved range of motion. 5Newer version available, still a pretty good TENS unitI really like this unit, for the price it's truly excellent. It helps significantly with my sciatic pain and other muscles when I over-exert. The pads don't seem to be as high quality as some other's I've used but they work and seem like they'll hold up well. I did have some sticky residue left a couple of times, but this is easily solved. I definitely don't think the pads will last as long as I was hoping but that's minor. I do wish I would have known there was a newer version of this with the ability to select channels when I purchased as I would have purchased the newer version: NURSAL Updated Version Tens Unit Electronic Pulse Stimulator, Pain Relief Impulse Mini Massager with 12 Modes, Independent-Control A/B Channel and 8 Pads for Pain Management Back Pain and Rehabilitation 4Great Value for your moneyI bought this in hopes it would help me cut back or eliminate the need to for a professional message every month. I have had this for almost a month now, and use this 3-5 times per week. So far it has been great. It has more than enough choices of "massage" type and plenty of adjustment for the intensity of the massage/stimulation.I have found the charge last a long, long time. I am surprised that I have used this for at least 5-7+ hours over the course of about 1 -1.5 weeks and it still shows full charge and gives no indication of needing charged. The usage is super easy and intuitive. If I had one complaint, it would be that only 1 plastic holder for the pads was supplied. Since you can use up to four pads at a single time, a second plastic pad holder would be fantastic. I am still using my first set of pads - they are less sticky now, but I am not disappointed with the usage I have gotten so far. I will probably look for additional pads and plastic holder on Amazon and order them - I cant imagine they will be that much to purchase to have on hand. All in all, I would recommend this product for anyone looking to buy this type of device.I have canceled my monthly membership for getting a message and have a nice savings per month, without the side effect of tense muscles, etc. This devices cost half of what a single massage costs. Even if this does not completely replace the need for a massage, it should allow me to reduce the visits needed to a few times throughout the year - which is still a huge cost savings and allows me more convenient treatment timings, without having to fit in the open hours of a typical business. 5Some Pluses, But Not A Real TensThe good parts are it is small and easy to carry in your pocket, it is powerful ( I never got above 3 on any setting), and it's inexpensive. On the down side, the controls are needlessly complicated, the instructions obviously written by someone for whom English is not their first language - even some of the captions don't match the pictures, and although it promises 6 different types there are only 3 that are noticeably different. I found it be effective for a temporary ache, but not for a bulging disc. In my opinion this is not nearly as effective as a professional Tens unit which typically sells for 3-4 times as much as the Nursal. 3Packs a big punch for a small unitWe love this thing. We do jiu-jitsu as a family, and we are often nursing sore necks, shoulders, backs, etc ... Our chiropracter throws us on one of these machines during our visits, which cost hundreds of dollars. When I saw this one I figured, It s only $30, let s give it a try. Well, definitely worth it. The multiple strength settings allows you to adjust for different muscle sensitivities (biceps clench hard on setting 1, for eg, whereas the back requires a stronger setting). There are a lot of different massaging programs to try out, we all have our own favorite ones to use. And the unit is nice and small, can attach it and walk around the house to do chores or whatever if you like. It s also fun. Attach it to your arms and try drinking some water, always good for a laugh. LOL.We use it as both a massager, and to work out our muscles. I doubt it does anything with respect to getting huge, but it s fun to think that it does. The product comes with an offer for more free pads, and so far, it seems to be the limiting factor. Not sure yet how long each pad will last, but we take care of it as best we can it does come with a bunch of them.My mindset was to try it, and throw it out if it was junk. But we re glad we bought it. I m working out my 6 pack as I m typing this. LOL. 5Works for me and it means no pain pillsI've had this tens unit now for a couple months and I'm very pleased with it. When I first saw it, I thought this tiny thing (about the size of an ipod) isn't going to do much of anything. Boy! Was I wrong! My doctor recommended I try one, it works kind of like over stimlating the nerves. The relief lasts, for me, as long as a pain pill does. Drug free :-) One word of warning..don't turn to full intensity too fast! It'll zap you good. I was afraid to order one of these for a long time because I have an artificial heart valve that's metal and my chest has lots of wire in it. My doctor said the voltage is so low, it wouldn't hurt anything. One last thing is I can't believe how long the battery in it lasts. I've used it probably around 20 times and only charged it when I first received it. Just for the record, no one has paid or even asked me for a product endorsement here. 5Had a Sciatica Issue, and this has helped.I've had Sciatica pain for the past two weeks, and wasn't finding much relief. I have taken two weeks off running, and was barely walking. Standing was difficult, and anything more than a few hundered steps was leaving a shooting pain down my right leg and outside my knee. Last year I was out for three weeks, and saw a Rolfing specialist, who fixed the problem and some alignment issues. This Dr. told me that my problems this year are due to muscle imbalances, and fatigue, not alignment. He recommended stretching and Yoga. I am still working on the stretching, but haven't seen the relief I was hoping for.I did not think this was going to help, in fact I was sure it wasn't - but I have become a bit desparate. SO, I am happy to say I was wrong. I placed a pad set on my low back, and one set right on my right buttock and set it up on "Acupuncture" full strength. Not sure how it works, but it seems to block out the pain of standing, and I can walk a bit farther. I've only used it the past two days, but in those two days, I have a lot less pain. I plan to try to walk on a treadmill tonight, see if I can put together 20 minutes or so. Won't go back to running until I am sure the Sciatica has cleared up for the year. I think this TENS works by fatiguing and relaxing the piriformis muscle which has become tight, causing the nerve pain. I could be wrong on cause, but effect so far it just what I wanted. Pain subsiding, and diminishing 5Great unit, but a few minor issues.Used the unit for the first time today (I have used many TENS units before.). Am a little concerned that on my first try I needed the strength very high (see photo) on the unit in order to feel the vibrations. I know that eventually you need to increase the strength as part of the therapy, but there are only a few more steps to go.Also the writing in the the instruction manual (see photo) is quite small (presumably to printing keep costs down and make room for additional languages available. Be prepared for needing reading glasses. The unit comes with one board (see photo) that store two of the reusable pads. However this unit is capable of using 4 pads (the reason for my purchasing the upgraded model) where/how are those two additional pads to be stored?!?!Lastly, (see photo) there is a flyer included that if you leave a review (hinting at 5 stars) you will receive some free additional pads. That being said, I am now concerned about all of these simplistic/basic reviews. I too want my free pads, but at least I tried to leave a full and honest review. 4
