Same shoe that my podiatrist sells! This is exactly like the one I purchased from my doctor when I broke my little toe. It was not uncomfortable and provided support so I didn't have any pain. The trick is to find a shoe for the other foot that is the same height so you don't throw off your alignment (hips, back, etc). The shoe was so comfortable that I would forget that I had it on--and I wore it for about 5 weeks. When my husband hurt his foot I bought this one from Amazon and it brought great comfort at much less cost. 5Works well for walking with injured big toe jointAfter a pro grade impact drill fell from 4 ft high onto my big toe joint (in which I already suffer with Hallux Rigidus), even attempting the lightest weight on my foot was excruciating. This stiff, wrap-able boot immediately allowed me to hobble around if not totally pain free, tons less than before. My only complaint (and it's not really their fault( is not knowing how high a shoe I'd need on the other foot to balance out the height difference. The wrap is customizable so I am able to wear a thin sock, or a large bandage bandage. The length of the strap around my ankle was perfect to allow me to secure the shoe from flapping around. The item arrived quickly and seems to be great quality at a low price. 5Came fast and did the jobHelped with broken toe pain. Couldn't get to see my doctor for the weekend and ordered this because they told me to get it. Went to 3 places to find it and they either didn't have it, had the wrong size, or cost was near $100. This was perfect for the job and price. 5Working ManPain in my right foot to bend my toes upward. I don't know how I injured myself, but the pain was in the region of my first metatarsal. As a manual labor man, I have to insure the lazy, but don't get insurance. The only rational solution, no matter the actual problem, seems to be immobilization. A doctor bill is out of the question, and this post-op shoe is much cheaper than the fine for not having insurance, so I bought one.I wear a size 10 shoe, and I ordered the large size. It is huge. At first I thought to return it, but then I realized it was large enough to fit over my shoe. Seeing the onset of winter, I decided that a shoe over my shoe might be good. Soon, I was walking like the short-legged man that I was, so I bought another shoe to make my legs match so nobody would think I was injured, and should stop working, which would stop my income. After a short time, I discovered that the shoe was not rigid enough and I could still bend my lower foot and hurt myself. So I cut a piece of wood and inserted it between the post-op shoe and my regular shoe. People did notice, but it really didn't attract to much attention. My shoes are easy to take on and off without removing the post-op shoes separately.Winter is here, and as you can see in the picture, my shoes have an uneven coat of wetness and salt. It is possible that my foot is healed, but the post-op shoes are easy to wear and help keep my shoes dry in the slush. Considering the side benefits, and the harm if I stop wearing them early, I'll probably keep wearing them till spring. In summary: Given a wooden insert to make them super stiff, they are the best thing imaginable. Easy to wear, easy to remove, cheap enough to buy another as a leveler for the other foot, and they don't look like a cast. Minus the salt, glue, and other working deposits, they actually look good, and blend in well with my regular shoes. 5Very helpful during recoveryThese were not doctor recommended, but we decided to try them because my husband is recovering from a terrible wreck and multiple broken bones everywhere. In learning to walk again, he could not wear normal footwear, but needed something to cushion his feet and protect them as well. These have been wonderful and have been surprisingly durable as well. I believe this one pair (I have to purchase one for each foot) will last until he can transition back into a more normal footwear. I do clean them on a regular basis. 5Runs 1 size big but great support especially for toe fractures!I had an avulsion fracture of my big toe on the right foot (broke off the tip of my toe) and I needed to not bend my foot. So I bought this post-op shoe and it worked like a charm. It gave GREAT support and allowed me to walk without pain. The one drawback is that it runs VERY large. I wear a men's size 11 and I ordered a large but probably should have gotten a medium as my toes barely made it through the velcro strap. 4It did the job. It's a pretty clunky shoe, probably not a bad idea to just get both. I was limping around, but not because of the broken toe, the shoe was higher than all my shoes except for some low wedges I own. Really comfortable and they run biiiiig. I wear a womens 11, but could have gone with the smaller size. You could barely see my toes in the shoe. If they fit better I could have drove with them on, but they were too clunky for that. But really, all of this is the least of your worries if you need this in the first place. Happy healing! 5Appears to be a quality product but falls short of useful :(Generally, this post-op shoe appears to be of satisfactory quality and well-thought-out for a limited use. Apparently, people who are in post-op don't need as much cushioning as people recovering from tendon and arch soreness. Many people appear to be satisfied by the amount of cushion on these types of shoes. I am not. I have been using a boot provided by my podiatrist for a few weeks. The boot has helped me recover nicely from some tendon soreness. But, the boot can be rather cumbersome and I was really hoping to find something less constraining to wear around the house for those times when the tendon flares up again. I had hoped this product would address that need. It does not. Again, there is not enough cushion. I think the difference is largely due to the fact that a boot also wraps your foot in a built-in padded sock, and the sock provides some needed additional cushion. These kinds of post-op shoes lack the padded sock and therefore fall short of a replacement for a boot. Be advised. 2Very comfortable, exceptional quality, protective, affordable!I bought this as a spare shoe after toe (cheilectomy) surgery and found it so vastly more comfortable and protective than the boot issued by my surgery center, I bought a second one: one for street, one for house. (Surgeon's boot can go in the garbage; straps were ineffective with no ankle support, length too short for protection.)This ProCare shoe excels in safety, strap mounts, rigid control, padding. Better comfort also means faster healing. I'm walking comfortably in this shoe within just a few days of surgery (almost like a rigid sandal) - whereas the surgery center's shoe was poorly mounted, thin-soled, badly padded. Since I'll wear this shoe another month yet: no reason to suffer with an inferior recovery shoe. It's also adjustable (some reviewers may not realize?). TIP: Default position of toe area top panel was not optimal for my width but its velcro flap is fully removable, so I repositioned it to better tether the two sides - which took all of 10 seconds. That feature is not glaringly obvious visually, but it is there, intended to be used.Superb pick. Nice price. 5If in doubt, go smaller.I ordered this as a an affordable alternative to the fracture boot I have been using. The boot is definitely preferable for weight bearing, but I have now been instructed to stay off my foot as much as possible and needed something that would work with my knee scooter. The shoe is of similar quality to other foot brace/post-op shoes I've seen. I like that the velcro parts can be taken off and repositioned. The sole is not as rigid as my boot and I would prefer more rigidity, but this is fine for the price (and considering I shouldn't be stepping on it anyway). My one complaint is the size chart. I am a woman who wears a size 11 shoe. Sometimes I need wide and sometimes I don't. This shoe is too big and I should have gone with the medium. The sizing seems to be pretty much like my boot which is a DJO product also and my boot is medium. This shoe is a large and fits like a boot my husband has (essentially identical to mine) which is a size large. Having large feet, I tend to expect things to be too small and usually go larger if there is a question. In this case with the adjustability of the straps, I should have gone smaller so I would get more support. The size chart on the women's shoe was why I did not order the women's large (a different listing). In retrospect it probably would have fit better than this one. Probably not worth returning so I'll see if I can make it work. In any case, if my husband ever needs a fracture shoe, it would fit him. 4
