Works to reduce pain from plantar fasciitisMy wife has plantar fasciitis and these were recommended by her doctor. She's been happy with the results. This time we bought a size larger and custom cut them to fit using the existing insoles. That worked perfectly.5My podiatrist recommended these due to nerve damage that developed over time ...My podiatrist recommended these due to nerve damage that developed over time from breaking a toe many years ago. I wear these on a regular basis when I will be walking a lot and depending on how my foot feels occasionally around the house. My podiatrist cut a piece out of the first one, which I copy on each new pair to accommodate my foot. In the six years since I have been using these, I have only had to go back twice to have the nerve numbed. The last time was actually my fault since I went too long between replacements. 5Rip out your old insole and wear these!!I go through about five or six of these a year as I'm on my feet in sneakers all day long, every day...(I imagine the average person would only use one or two per year)But I recommend these to anyone who wears sneakers, runs, walks, has bad feet, knees hurt, etc...You take out the original paper thin insole of the sneaker (I don't care how expensive they are--the insole is paper thin)And replace it with the Spenco.Your life will change...your gait will improve...your knees will stop aching...your feet will float...you will be happy.(*Disclaimer--I cannot promise these things to anyone...but this is what they've done for me*)I even put them inside my Hunter Boots, because those things (while extremely effective in keeping my legs dry) are god-awful clunky. 5Doesn't Hurt Collapsed ArchesI like the feel of the spongey yellow rubber foam and the thick pillow under the arch. I can't wear a plastic arch support under my totally flat feet. Bought these because the Spenco Total Support semi-rigid inserts didn't work out for me; the plastic around their lower half was digging into the rear of my arch. The Spenco service rep suggested these, and also clarified that the Spenco Walker/Runner supports (Red) have a higher, more padded arch. The package label for the Cross Trainers says they are for a low to medium arch.Spenco confirmed that the Cross Trainers and the Heavy Duty Insoles are the exact same product, "they are marketing the insoles to two different markets." Spenco Polysorb Heavy Duty Insoles Size 3 (womens 9/10, Mens 8/9) - Model 37816 - Pair4I purchased this hoping it might help with heal painI purchased this hoping it might help with heal pain. Heel pain is most often caused by plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is identified by the fact that you have the most pain with the first few steps after getting out of bed in the morning, or after a long period of not using your feet. The pain is somewhat less after a few minutes of walking. In my experience, this product does help, although it doesn't totally relieve all heal pain. I think the way it helps is to provide just the right density foam cushion under your heal. Any softer foam totally collapses and doesn't help much. Any denser foam is too hard and doesn't help much. It seems to also help by providing some arch support, although I think it could do even better in that. It also seems to help by lifting the back of your foot and so placing more weight on the front of your foot while you walk. Again, in my experience, it helps, but doesn't totally relieve all heal pain.Be aware that it lifts your heal 1/2 inch, so if the back of your shoe can't accommodate that, your heal will be slipping out as you walk. This could prevent you from walking fast. But walking slow with less pain, in my opinion, is a good trade-off.You might also be interested; I rolled up a sock and duct taped it to the bottom of my slipper to cause my arch to have to support more weight. I am not a doctor, so I don't know if it's good to put more weight on your arch. But it provided some immediate and cost free relief. 5Pain Free Hiking!I injured my left heel on a hike through a lava bed. Initially I thought it was bruised, but my doctor diagnosed it as plantar fasciitis. I dug out some Superfeet inserts and put them in my hiking boots. They were better than the factory inserts. Meanwhile, I started some stretching exercises I found on the Mayo Clinic website. These were excruciating to do at first, but after a few days became easier. Then these Spenco inserts arrived. I trimmed about 1/4" off of the front to adjust the 12-13 size to my 12. I popped them in my hiking boots and walked around the house. The left heel and instep hurt just like when I did my stretching. So I wore them around for a day. After a few hours my foot felt better. At the end of the day, my foot felt great. I had to figure, that like my stretching, these were somehow working to correct the problem. I now have 50+ miles of hiking with these. I am free of pain. My boots and feet feel rejuvenated. A+++5Neutral arch - gives new life to shoesFit: this is a true neutral arch for those looking for supports that are not so high. This will be uncomfortable if you are flat footed and it will not provide enough support if you are looking for a high lift. I wear an 8.5 or a 9 and I had to cut off an inch from the top. even though the description states cross trainer - I removed the old insole first and then cut and placed them into my loafers and they fit. I used my old insole as a template to cut.I purchased these in the past and know they have a lifespan of a few months; they are not intended to last forever.Ladies read carefully these inserts are not for:- loafers if the sides are less than 1.5 inches.- ballet flats - the forefoot 5Finally relief!!!I'm in my 30's and I have started playing softball. By mid season, I would get crippling pain in my shin/ankle area and was convinced it was shin splits. After many many failed attempts to relieve the pain, I had a realization that my flat feet were to blame. I bought these insoles, put them in my cleats and I can't even begin to describe how good my legs feel. Even the minor aches and pains in my knees and back have gone away. If you have flat feet, this product works. These appear to be well constructed and should last several seasons, and at this great price, I just went and purchased more for my sneakers and work shoes! 5Pain BE GONE!Plantar Fasciitis - bad. These insoles - gooood. I wear them all the time - including in my slippers I wear around the house. What a difference! I own 7 or 8 pair of Spenco insoles of varying thickness and materials, and all are good - but for this painful season of my life, this pair is the best! 5These are counterfeit or their quality has completely diedDo not buy these. These are either counterfeit or they have totally changed their production methods. Previous versions of these I purchased at shoe stores would last two or three years and never wore out like this. This is only three months wear. This is normal walking and standing. Completely unacceptable. I believe these are counterfeit. If not stay away. Absolute garbage. 1LOVE them! Never go without!I ve been buying these for years! Love them! They make any shoe I own waaay more comfortable. I can stand around on my feet all day without pain and going to Disney World (arriving at opening, leaving at closing every day for three days), my feet didn t start bothering me until halfway through the second day of nonestop walking around. The rest of my family started complaining midway through the first day.Totally washable. I recommend removing the insoles that come with your shoes for extra room and comfort. I also recommend having a set for each pair of shoes because they re made to stay in place really well so it can be a bit of a hassle to move them from shoe to shoe. At the very least, buy two. One for the shoes you use every day and one to swap out between shoes.I ve worn them in flats, tennis shoes (Pumas), Nike running shoes and my London Fog suede boots. So they work for most shoe types. I d bring them along when picking out shoes to make sure you have enough room. They are pretty thick. Also, no matter how thin the manufacturer s insole is, removing it can improve comfort. I didn t have to do that with the Puma s but I did with the boots.Only downside is you have to replace them every year because they wear out.Basically, I love these insoles and wear them with all my shoes! 5A must have for all my footwearI first bought these with a new pair of running shoes from Foot Locker a few years ago. The salesman was very knowledgeable and after taking off his own shoe to show me he had these inserts, I was sold. These inserts provide a good level of padding and have eliminated my issues with shin splints (along with a good pair of sneakers, this cannot be stressed enough for shin splints!)Since then, I have purchased several pairs of these inserts for all of my footwear. I love them in my combat boots, especially during my deployment where I was on my feet 12-15 hours a day. I forgot to put these inserts in before I left and I had lower back pain and leg stiffness, but once I remembered these nifty little inserts that all went away. They fit into any shoe: simply take out the old insert and place it on top of the new one and simply cut to match the shape. My only gripe is the limited lifetime; they wear out pretty quickly (not enough to deduct a star.) I went through 3 pairs of these on my deployment and I can easily go through that many in a year of running in my sneakers. However, all footwear wears out with time and use and these are no different. I'd rather replace these cheap(er) inserts than a new pair of shoes every few months.5These are great for my casual shoes!I use the Spenco Walker/Runner Insoles in tennis shoes. The Cross Trainer isn't quite as thick and fit better in shoes with less room in them. So, I use the Cross Trainer Insoles in my casual shoes and absolutely love them! I currently have a pair of Spenco insoles in four different pairs of shoes. Amazon has the best price I've been able to find.I've had occassional problems over the years with Plantar Faciitis. Each time I've injured a foot, it was because I wasn't wearing one of these insoles and didn't have proper support from the shoes I was wearing. My feet are otherwise fairly normal/healthy.I have tried other insoles (Super Feet, Dr Scholls and one other sold in brick & mortar shoe stores, can't remember the brand) and like these the best. The Spencos have more padding and just a little more arch support which make them much more comfortable. There are no noise or squeek problems with the Cross Trainer or Walker/Runner versions like have been reported with the Spenco Total Support insoles. I will say that I tried a pair of the Powerstep Pinnacle orthotics after one injury. They were great until my foot healed enough to go back to the Spenco insoles. The Powersteps are the only real orthotic I've ever worn. One lesson I have learned is that shoes and insoles wear out. Now I replace my insoles every year or so. Doing this helps extend the lifespan of my shoes while providing proper support for my feet.Highly recommended! I will buy these again!5For low arches, good cushioningFirst thing, Got these from amazon packaged in the plastic box, but was already opened and wrapped in a plastic bag. I guess it was a return. The soles didnt look damaged or worn so i decided to keep them.I have a couple days to use these and this is what I found. Its definitely for people with low arches to flat feet. The raised area is very small and has an abrupt transition to the rest of the footbed. These spenco's are very cushiony in feel and very flexible. Thus the built-in "arch support" simply collapses when you step down. Additionally, there is no stiffening material in these soles. The yellow part in the photos is simply soft foam and is not at all supportive for arches. The heel cup is also quite shallow- so not much lateral support.Again decent cushioning. Will glue these into some sandals instead my daily user. 3Durable, balance of support and cushionThese saved my feet! I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, and the foot doc gave me these for my shoes (along with a night brace and eventually a steroid injection) and they are amazing. The right balance of support and cushion, and they're durable. I've since put them in all my shoes and hiking boots. I have yet to replace a pair of these insoles, and I got the first pair for my work shoes in October 2016! Granted, those shoes have been downgraded to "wear around the house only" now, but expect a pair of these insoles to last you about a year with regular use. I've tried other inserts before, but they either delaminated or literally crumbled, not these. I've recommended them to a couple friends. And you can't go wrong with Amazon's price. 5
