Customer Reviews

Great insoles!I looked at so many different insoles and decided on this one. Took a chance as I didn't really need orthotic ones, I just needed extra padding and comfort inside my sneakers. I'm so happy with these Spenco insoles! First of all, you can cut them to make them fit perfectly inside your shoes. Secondly, they provide just enough cushioning and are really comfortable. They didn't cause my shoes to be any tighter since they are thin, but what a world of difference they make! Highly recommend! 5Five StarsI use Spenco Rx to put a thin layer of cushion over my orthotics. 5Great with orthoticsI have flat feet/fallen arches and have worn orthotics for many years. I always use the green Spenco inserts under the orthotics. I remove the insole of my shoes and replace with the Spenco insoles and then place the orthotics on top. The Spenco inserts take up less room in the shoe to make space for the orthotics, and provide extra cushion underfoot. They last years too. I highly recommend them for orthotic wearers! 5Much better than factory supplied inserts.Well made, thin replacement liner. No odor issues. Long lasting. Far out lasting any original insole I've ever used. I begin to notice a drop off in the cushioning in the ball of the foot area after about 6 months or so. These add a subtle but noticeable layer of comfort that lasts all day.Thin enough so that toe crowding is a non issue. About the same thickness as the insert in a running shoe. In my work boots I put this under my REDI Thotics inserts for additional cushioning.Been using them since 2002. 5The topcloth decided to come off mid run...I needed a replacement sole for my running shoes and had trouble finding ones that were inexpensive and didn't advertise crazy arch support. I gave these a shot and they were perfect -- They fit into my shoes without having to trim them down and I thought I found gold after my first run of ~7 miles. Unfortunately, the optimism was short-lived and the topcloth came off during my second run with these shoes. This resulted in my toes unknowingly rubbing along the rubber insole and essentially becoming half-toe/half-blisters.I did buy another pair in the hopes that the topcloth coming off is just a freak occurrence. At this point in time, I would recommend these if you don't want arch support and aren't planning on using them for running (or any other strenuous activity). If you want something more high-performance, it looks like you may have to end up looking at a higher priced, higher quality alternative. 2Percect for Heritage boots (Iron Rangers)Bought these for my Iron Rangers and Beckman Redwing boots. People say these boots over time mold to your feet. Well mine didn't and wearing them felt like walking on concert. I was wearing wool socks no insole, the fit was nice and snug. These insoles do reduce the room inside the boot. So to counter this, i wear these with a regular crew sock. My Iron Rangers and now very cozy. Perfect 5Won't change the contour of the footbed of your shoe or adversely affect your biomechanical gait.I find that I often need added cushion in both my running and casual shoes.I have purchased numerous brands and styles of insoles in an effort to find a suitable pair. Each pair had its own unique contour. This is a major problem. When a second contour is overlayed upon the existing contour of the footbed of a shoe, an entirely new contour is formed, totally altering the biomechanical effect of that running or walking shoe on the human gait. The original design of the best of shoes is severely compromised in this way.The Spenco Rx Comfort Insole, on the other hand, is a simple insole. It is of uniform thickness throughout. It has no contour of its own. It is very flexible. It overlays the existing footbed of your shoe with a uniform layer of added cushion. It does not change the contour of your shoe's footbed or alter the biomechanics of your running or walking gait as the other types of insoles do.I generally insert this insole between the footbed of the shoe and the original insole that came with the shoe.I should be noted that a tight-fitting shoe may not allow enough room for an additional layer of cushioning. This may not matter if you are removing a worn-out insole and replacing it with the Spencos. If, however, you are adding the extra layer between, as I generally do, you will need a more generous fitting shoe to accomodate the addition of the extra insole.I have a pair of hiking boots that would not comfortably accomodate an extra insole along with the existing insole. With this particular boot, I found it suitable to remove the existing insole and use two layers of the Spenco insoles. The boot accomodated this configuration very comfortably. 5Great Support, QualityI have been using these for years. I wear Good Feet Arch Supports in my shoes, so I remove the original insole and place these over the prosthetic device. It gives added comfort, but is thin enough to wear in all of my shoes. They need to be trimmed to your size, which works good for me because some of my shoes are longer than others, so I am able to get a custom fit. I have 4 pair that I rotate between my various shoes. Work great in my tennis shoes. I walk 10,000 steps a day and these really make my walk comfy. I recommend them to anyone with foot problems. 5Too narrow to use in any of my regular shoes.I had some Spenco stuff from the 80's that I used through the 90's and loved it, but that stuff has long since past. The new era of offerings look similar but feel lighter and more foamy, less jelly like. Lighter is always better, but I think a compromise between the 2 would be ideal. That's just personal opinion though.Pros: Seems to be of great quality, finish is perfect, light weight, good cushion for the thickness, easily trimmed to length, expected to be durable based upon past experiences with this companyCons: The size 12-13 is too narrow for any of my shoes. [Keen (2 styles) Patagonia (3 styles) Merrell (2 styles) Docs (2 styles, both the Chinese and made in England era) and finally the Reebok Crossfit Nano 6] Sizes ranged anywhere from 11.5 to 12.5, but every insole pulled from the respective shoes I tried these in were of similar length. Not a single shoe is a special width but these insoles were anywhere form 1/16" to 1/4" too narrow which was easily noticeable to my feet and really annoying to the point in which I couldn't use these at all.Note: I recently tried on mannnnnny different shoes and found that not a single Nike or Adidas shoe was wide enough to fit my foot and would be quite confident that these insoles would work well in shoes of standard, but narrower width like the Nike's and others. (I really wanted some new Metcon 3's lol)CHECK THE WIDTH BEFORE TRIMMING TO LENGTH!!! 2BEST, MAYBE ONLY, FLAT INSOLE YOU WILL FIND, XLNT FOR MINIMAL RUNNING SHOESi use these in minimal running shoes, where you want a flat 0 drop sole, or as close to it as possible.these are good in that they are totally 0 drop, or flat, and only 2mm thick. so, if you have some minimal running shoes and you wish a bit more padding or cushion, these are a great way to calibrate that up, adding only 2mm, and not vary the heel to toe drop ratio.of course these can be used in normal running shoes, or any time of shoes, where you want a bit more padding. if you are looking for something with huge heel cushions (as you might if wearing hard leather soled cowboy boots) then there are many other products. but for just a tad more cushion, especially in minimal run shoes, this is the only product on the market i know of. most definitely at this low price. i've used these for many miles and they simply don't lose their cushion or compression. 5
