Spenco Total Support worked for meAfter talking to my MD, he suggested inserts. I know the prescription kind are very expensive. So I did some research and realized I suffer from overpronation. My right ankle turns in and that places more stress on my ankle and knee joints. I walk every day and the inside of my ankle and knee were aching all the time. So I ordered Spenco Total Support inserts which were listed for overpronation. It took a few days to get use to them in my Asics, but by the end of the week I didn't even realize they were there and all ankle and knee pain was gone. I would say they worked for me. While I didn't have any pain in my left ankle and knee, I did use the inserts in both shoes. I would recommend trying the Spenco Total Support if you have pain on the inside of your ankle or knee. They are reasonably priced when compared to others on the market and they are comfortable once you get use to something extra in your shoes. 4Great over-the-counter arch support for heavy set peopleI am a heavy set woman with flexible arches and need support in my office shoes that couldn't accommodate other orthotics I have. These worked great for my flexible Sketcher sneakers that look great but have NO support. While personally I would like just a little higher arch, these are awesome. I have seen review on other sites where people complained that they were too hard. Personally, I need a firmer support and these give that.If you are looking for firm, but a support that flexes I would recommend Spenco Rx Orthotic Arch Support Full Length Shoe Insoles. They cushion more with the support. When I tried them they felt like they flexed as I walked, but the underlying support is a hard plastic, so not sure. I also liked Superfeet Green Heritage Insoles, but the heels were narrower than what I need. I will be trying them in some tennis shoes to see if they are comfortable. The arch support is good in those too. 5but this is a great product. I am a chiropractor and very familiar ...I very seldom write a review, but this is a great product. I am a chiropractor and very familiar with several different types of Orthotics. I am very active in racquet sports and developed severe plantar fascitis. primarily left heel pain. I continued to work with it exercises, stretches etc. along with different types of orthotics without much success. Finally I tried the expensive custom hard plastic orthotics, which even after gradually breaking them in, my feet just generally hurt so I decided to search online for a better orthotic.I wanted a very firm orthotic but also one that would also cushion your feet and absorb shock. My research lead me to the Spenco Total Maximum Orthotic insole. While I won't say that it alone cured my plantar fasciitis, I will say that along with everything else I was doing it was a huge help. I have 2 pairs of the orthotics and use them in most of my shoes including my slippers. This is a great product and I highly recommend it. Remove the insoles that are in your current shoes and replace with the Spenco Orthotic. 5Currently Saving My FeetI work in an industrial environment and spend the entire day (9-10 hours) on my feet walking on concrete floors. I've tried many different products, and thought I'd probably just have to live with sore, aching arches and heels. I was wrong. After wearing these inserts for a few days I realized that my feet just didn't hurt nearly as much when I got home from work. They literally improved the condition by about 80%, which is at least twice as much as anything else I've tried, and probably about all that I can reasonably ask of any product given my occupation. They are a bit more expensive than other similar products, but the results have not been similar in my case, so the extra cost has been well worth it so far. The only thing I can't yet speak to is longevity, as I've only been wearing them for about a month. Even at this point (around a dollar a day) I'd consider them a slightly expensive necessity for me. If they make it three months I'm going to start using words like "miracle".Like any product of this type it's probably safe to say that people's experiences will be different, as people's bodies and activities differ. However, if you've been living with the daily pain as I have, I would highly recommend trying these insoles if you haven't yet.Update 7/28/2013: After using these insoles for over four months, I've noticed that my foot pain has been returning gradually very recently. I guess it's time to order a new pair, and I'll gladly do it! These have been absolutely amazing for me. 5Doesn't help me.I work in an Amazon FC, on my feet on concrete for 10 hours a day. I've tried the Powerstep Pinnacle Max which cost more, but was recommended to me by a few coworkers. It came time to replace them, but they are more expensive than Spenco, so I decided to try the Total Support first. They didn't hold its shape as long as the Powersteps did and went completely flat in the arch under my weight and extremely flat feet, so I bought the Total Support Max. The Total Support insoles are good for those who aren't overweight and/or standing/walking on concrete for 10+ hours a day. They're just not good enough to withstand what I put them through. However, the Total Support Max has me in pain by the end of the day. This product isn't for me. The best support, comfort, and life of product I've used has been with the Powerstep insoles. Take my advice: Spend the extra little money on Powerstep if you can. 2Helps Keep Me Hiking and SkiingI have too many problems with my feet--achilles/plantar/neuroma/nerves--yet I'm still an active person. My podiatrist fitted me for custom orthotics with a metatarsal pad, which are fine for every day use. But when I hike or ski they quickly start banging around or become uncomfortable. So in consultation with the podiatrist, I tried several brands of off the shelf insoles, including Superfeet and New Balance, both of which I've used extensively in the past with positive results. The Superfeet don't have the metatarsal pad and the pads on the NBs are spongy. These Spenco Max insoles have a strong met pad and serious arch support. So these help me ski and hike for a couple of hours in spite of my many problems. Good product for a big active guy like me. Highly recommend. 5Far superior to my custom orthoticsI have flat feet and severely overpronate. I have worn custom orthotics for about 10 years but as I got more athletic and fit those orthotics wit the style made stopped working. I was actually in more pain when wearing the orthotics than barefoot. I lost a lot of weight and am more fit that I have ever been., Went to a new podiatrist who automatically talked me into getting her $400 custom orthotics and she wanted me in the Brooks Beast. In no way would listen that I was not comfortable at all. So got a refund and off to an orthopedic surgeon who finally had answers and #1 for him was Spenco Total Support Insoles. I wear a neutral New Balance running shoe and he said the problem had been I had been buying shoes to fit the orthotic and it should be the other way around. The moment I stood on these insoles in his office I felt support and comfort. We trimmed them to size and my feet have been granted a new life. I get such support, stability and comfort from these orthotics. Honestly better than I ever got from custom orthotics. It is important to note these are not orthotics to be worn just for comfort. They are strong, durable and rigid meant to provide that needed support for the overpronator. There is rigid arch support with a deep heel cup that has a ton of cushioning. When I started wearing these I felt so great I exercized and walked ant least 5 miles a day for a week and overdid it. Needed a short break before easing back in. With any new orthotic you must give them a break in period. And as I said I get more support and comfort with these than with $400 custom orthotics. Another note, when I first wore these they squeaked which I read was a common thing with new orthotics. I put some moleskin under the heel which silenced it some but they just needed to be worn in and now the squeak is fully gone. I am rather stunned at what a high end product these are and also how durable. I have been suffering with pain for no one would help me get the correct orthotic and understand what I truly need. Till this doctor. Finally no more pain and no more buying product after product to try. But remember don't overdo at first and ease into these. These are very structured with a lot of support. But they will help. Let your feet and body adjust. I can't recommend them enough. 5Good product but almost too much supportI have the flattest of flat feet and always use an arch support insole. Had a different model of Spenco in a pair of Keens for many years and was very happy with them. I'm using these in a pair of Brooks Beast athletic shoes. They provide very firm support and are great as long as you don't wear them for more than about 2 hours. Wearing them too long can be uncomfortable because they have very little flex. I'll buy Spenco again but will drop down a notch to a more flexible model. 4High Quality Shoe Insoles With Great SupportThis is my second purchase of this same product. My husband is a mail carrier for USPS and walks a minimum of 7-10 miles per day and was recently diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. He saw a doctor a couple of months ago for severe heel pain and blisters, who recommended these exact arch supports. I was skeptical about the "Max," worried they would be too hard to get used to. Within just 2 days, he was smiling again, his pain was significantly improved. He burns through his shoes quickly, and when I bought him another pair of shoes, he said, "Don't forget the Spenco Total Support MAX Arch Supports." He believes they were made for his feet. High quality and no signs of breakdown after over 2 months! 5Very Good, but Still Looking for My Ideal!I am 6' 4" tall, weigh 220 lbs and have a pretty normal foot (medium width, normal arch, heels might be slightly narrow). I do not consider my stride either overly pronated or supinated. I have used a number of different insoles in my hiking boots over the years and none of them (including these) have been ideal. I like the stability that both the Superfeet Orange and Green provide, but have never been thrilled with the cushioning. These provide better cushioning which I really like, but the heel area is a bit more open and therefore are lacking (slightly) in stability. That being said, it is likely I will buy another pair of these in the future. 4
