Customer Reviews

Excellent quality and comfortI have owned many many pairs of these over the years as I have orthostatic hypotension. It gets really bad when it's hot so I get very dizzy and nauseous. My cardiologist recommended I try these instead of medication since the meds can be pretty dangerous and I am still very young...I had a pair of compression socks of another brand that were sheer and super duper uncomfortable. They dug into the area at the top of my foot and left giant marks on my feet. I did think the socks were helping but I knew I needed to try some other options. I got these and I absolutely love them. They are comfortable, a good price, fit well, and overall they've been very durable. They do not dig into the tops of my feet or crush my ankles like my old ones.I have pairs of all kinds- open toe, closed toe, knee high, and thigh high. I prefer the open toe for the most part since I am typically wearing them in the summer, but they can be a little bunchy if you are wearing sneakers. If you notice them slipping at all I recommend getting a product called it stays. A little roll on tube that keeps everything in place. I use them with my thigh highs and they do not budge an inch even if I wear them all day long. The beige can look pretty grandma and medical, but I really love that they finally started making white as they just look like normal knee high socks and can be a cute preppy look. Now I only wish they would make some colors and patterns! 5Great support hosiery that feel wonderful!I purchased these for my husband who has really bad swelling and circulation problems caused by a heart condition. His doctor recommended that he wear support hose to assist with management of the swelling in his legs. She gave him a prescription for support hose but I thought I'd try these first so I ordered them for him. He absolutely loves these hose. He said these are helping with the swelling and that they are extremely comfortable. Just be sure to hand wash and they should last a long time. 4Ripped too soon!Have now bought two pair thinking one might be a fluke, but both pair have ripped while putting them on less than two weeks after purchasing them, not caught on anything, just from pulling them up. When I look at the price I expect them to last more than two weeks! Ah well, guess it s back to the other brands that weren t a supportive but at least lasted a couple of months! 1Strong Support Yet Comfortable For Much Less MoneyMy doctor prescribed these for swollen ankles, a very bad thing given my extensive family history of strokes. Who knew that a swollen ankle could be a breeding ground for blood clots?I was first attracted to Truform because I knew the name and the price was nothing short of miraculous after purchasing some in town from a medical supply company. Being so much cheaper in price I expected a lesser quality product but this was not the case. In fact, the expensive ones that I purchased were not nearly as fine a quality as the Truform ones are. In fact, the pressure on these stockings was so excellent that it took a while to get them on the first time. During my first attempt to put them on the gymnastics I went through just to accomplish this were pretty hysterical. However, after being worn once, and even after a washing, they maintained their pressure but were much easier to put one. So don't be put off by the first attempt to put them on.The reason I purchase the open toe stocking is that I am warm blooded and also live in a warm climate. The open toe allows me feet to breath and not become too hot. Surprisingly, they do not migrate back toward the heel as you might expect but, rather, stay where they should. I thoroughly enjoy this brand of compression stockings and will purchase Truform again. 5For an open toe compression stocking, the Truform is okay for me; whereas the close toe Truform I like very muchI have already reported on my experience with the Truform close toe stocking. I like them because the toes and heels are made with a fabric that fits looser than the rest of the stocking. This provides comfort for me.For an open stocking, the Truform open toe is about the same as other brands. Unfortunately, I need open toe stockings when I am using orthotics between my toes. For me, the disadvantage of open toe is that the front edge or neck of the open toe slips back toward the ankle during the day (sometimes reaching mid-metatarsal). As a result, I get a bubble of edema between the neck of the stocking and my toes. Even my toes swell. After a long day, pain may develop where the neck of the stocking is compressing my foot (generally the distal medial or lateral metatarsal).Sorry I have to use these anatomical terms, but it seems the only accurate way to describe what goes on. 4Love the black color versus the usual tan. They do not seem to be as tight as my other compression socks even though they are the same exact kind (20-20 compression) and brand, just a different color. But they still work well though. The whole reason I got these is because they are a black color and look less "sickly old lady-ish" than the tan colored ones. I stopped wearing this kind and switched to the type that go up to mid thigh simply because the spider veins I am wearing them for are around my knee area, right were the sock cuts off. And these actually seemed to put more pressure on those veins, ending where they do. But if your problem veins are below the knee these will do just fine. These do wonders for your legs not feeling sore after a long day of standing. I was skeptical of compression socks before trying them, but now I wear them every work day. 4Well made and functional!I use these stockings to keep water out of my feet, ankles and calves. I have large calves. These are the only stockings that fit my calves, even though I have to shorten the height and also shorten the length from the open toe back to the heel. Once I do that they fit perfectly. I also alter these for a couple of friends. Good materials are used, or otherwise I would not be able to cut these down! I have 3 pair now, and will be ordering more in the future. A 3X petite model would be appreciated! A petite size could be accomplished by removing the binder ring at the toe plus 1/4 inch, and the same at the top of the calf. 5If you need them - buy them!I waited six months before I wrote this review. I wanted to give the stockings a try before I evaluated them. I have other compression stockings that were ordered thru a medical supply company. My insurance paid for part of those because their cost is around $70 per pair. These cost much less than those. They are not made of as durable material as the expensive ones. And they are more slippery and not as tight as the really good ones. Also, they stretch out faster and will "run" more easily - kind of like ladies nylon stockings do. That being said, they are better than having no compression at all if you are having problems with poor blood flow in the lower legs. They could literally be a "lifesaver" on a long airplane flight or if you must stand for long periods. Varicose veins can be dangerous and may increase your chances of blood clots in the legs. If these are your only option - buy them! If you can get your hands on the "prescription" kind - buy those. But don't ignore your swollen ankles and lower legs! 3Good fit, workableThese are no joke as far as compression socks go, they are pretty hard to get on the first time no matter how you do it, but once they are on--they feel good. These are a little long for me, they have a designated heel, so you can't just pull them up or down...but I don't want to miss sandal wearing weather and showing off my pedicures! This is my answer to still being able to justify the pedi and still get to wear sandals and even flip flops!! The beige isn't too "medicinal", I was afraid they would look very much like an old person's tan sox vs something that actually resembles skin color. With dress pants, I can probably hide the beige or at least it won't scream compression sox! I like them, I think I would try these again or possibly try some other brands. Free returns are the way to try different compression sox. 4UPDATED: THEY SUCK! 25% TOO LONG, 600% TOO EXPENSIVEUPDATE:So I received a new order of black with gold weave feet at a bargain price (4/10 U.S.) - and guess what - they work equally well, seem equal quality in terms of construction, are WAY prettier - AND THEY FIT (see the length comments, below.) I waited to see if I was doing something wrong when I put them on - then the same thing would happen. But no - these actually are 24" (both orders) and they're supposed to be 15" or so (and, I'm a big guy!) That sets up a pain / dangerous / impossible / difficult wearing situation. I returned the second pair I ordered - too late for the first. Also I highly recommend the closed toe ones - and get yourself a pair of real sandals instead of trying to wear flip-flops. I got a great closed toe sport-sandal from slohk for 20U.S.D. on closeout - really happy now! ORIGINAL:So I tore and ran one half the second time I put it on. I haven't damaged the other side after 10+ uses and just ordered another pair. Having a hole can produce a very painful bulge! It's WAAAAAY too long - ABOUT 24" FROM HEEL TO TOP when stretched enough to remove any creases (and you want to remove all the creases - or else!) So, it wants to go over the knee, and the only way to keep it from binding behind the knee is to fold it down again below the knee, which is less uncomfortable, but can become a health issue under daily use. If it only went UP TO the knee it would be way more comfortable and safer. May be unsafe to wear if you have any edema within 6" of the knee. In my case, I do not, and the folding is tolerable, but I would like a shorter pair. It's hard to put on right because it's open toes. I don't see how elderly or strength impaired (or normal?) people can either put them on OR take them off without help, or without promptly destroying them in the process! 1
