Customer Reviews

Great fit but needs a stronger stability bar.I'm just starting to leave reviews, both good and bad. I forgot to review this purchase and my experience with it from earlier in the year.I'm a male with carpal tunnel syndrome and have very small wrists (7") and forearms. Even thought this is made for women. it fit me perfectly. It is a good all around brace but has plastic support stabilizers that ended up breaking after only 8 months. I feel that if they would use metal for the stabilizer bars, then it would offer more structural stability and rigidity and would last longer. After contacting the company (Church & Dwight) about a warranty, they sent me a full refund immediately. I didn't even have to send the broken one back. Great customer service.I would purchase this brace again and probably will at some point. I am trying to find a comfortable brace for nighttime use with more rigidity. I just tried a Mueller that it turns out I was allergic to and have another Mueller (different material) on order to give a try. You have to be careful with this though, some are returnable and some are not. It would be better if you can find them at a local store and try them one first. 4Comfortable but gets (and stays) dirty too quickly.I buy these braces all the time because they're very comfortable to wear. But as you can see, I only gave it three stars for 2 reasons--1) the velcro wears out fairly quickly, and 2) and this is the big one--it gets so dirty, even if you wash it regularly (which makes the velcro wear out even faster) that you have a replace it frequently. Perhaps that's how they stay in business, since they are relatively inexpensive. Even just a dark gray color would be so much better. 3THE BEST -- FOR ANY NORMAL SIZED MAN WITH NORMAL SIZED HANDSTHEY ARE MY FAVORITE - AND THEY ARE NOT "JUST FOR WOMEN" I am very much "MALE" - 6' 2" TALL - weight 180 - I wear large in shirts, and size 46 suit coats. I have never been confused for a woman. I have had wrist pain for over 40 years. The cartilage in the wrist bones is gone by X-ray and CT scan. I wear these braces on both wrists during physical activity. I have a storage box full of wrist braces - and I do use others occasionally for specific tasks - like painting. HOWEVER, for day to day use --- these are the best for me. I don't have small hands. I wear "medium" in surgical gloves -(size 7 1/2) - and these braces are a TINY bit hard to get on - but I use baby powder if my hands are moist. They fit me perfectly - and I have no idea why they continue to sell them "FOR WOMEN". I use these for computer and wood shop work, They prevent the pain that occurs with heavy yard work or construction jobs. They don't restrict my needed flexibility. They provide great support without the "binding" that make some unsatisfactory. I have tried at least 30 different braces -(the ones for men) ----- and these GIRL braces are still the best for me. I just measured the smallest diameter at the wrist - and it is 7 1/4" on the right. I launder them with normal wash cycle - I don't use the dryer on these. 5Greatly improved my chronic wrist painI was diagnosed with carpal tunnel in my wrists after ignoring the symptoms for five years. I developed chronic pain in my right wrist from using a mouse at work that persisted even when I wasn't at work. I tried ergonomic mice and switched to using my left hand but developed the same pain in my left wrist. I was worried I had done permanent damage to my wrists and finally went to the doctor. My doctor recommended that I pick up braces at the drug store and wear them all the time including at night. Most of the drug store brands are made for men's hands and did not fit comfortably. I went online and bought the left and right Wellgate Women's braces, which I wear all day at work and when I sleep. I usually take them off around the house unless I'm doing an activity that hurts my wrists. They have a stiff piece inside that keeps your wrists straight and prevents you from bending them in a way that exacerbates the problem. My symptoms improved almost immediately, and my pain is far less severe and frequent. The thumb holes felt a little tight at first, but I got used to them quickly and don't notice it anymore. The color is more subtle than most of the ones sold in stores, and they clean up well if you handwash them every now and then. After trying 3 different ergonomic mice, an ergonomic keyboard, switching hands, and finally resorting to ibuprofen, these have worked better than anything. I'm so glad I found them, and I highly recommend them. 5Equally comfortable and supportiveHonestly I didn t have high expectations for this brace even though the reviews were very good. I m a licensed massage therapist and I ve been experiencing tendinitis pain in my right wrist for the last few weeks. I knew I needed to find a way to stabilize my wrist to heal it. I got the brace today and I m blown away at the quality, especially for the price! It is supportive and comfortable without being cumbersome.. my wrist has not hurt at all since I ve had the brace on because it does exactly what I needed, which is to limit the the of motion while doing day-to-day chores. Perfect! (The brace is white and gray even though the lighting in my pics makes it look more blue) 5Perfect wrist supportAbsolutely love this wrist support! I ve tried a number of them and this is the best! I had a set for years and lost the right one and just bought another one because nothing compares to it! The ridged support spines fit the wrist and palm perfect. It s not too large nor confining. It goes up the wrist just far enough without feeling confining. My hands and wrists are not tiny but it fits perfect. The two Velcro straps latch very effectively but yet still easy to remove. I can type just fine as well as sleep with it on. I was concerned when the description said white as my other pair were a dove grey and when this arrived i was pleased to see it is mostly dove grey. The only white parts are the strips where the spines are located. Love love love it! 5Sturdy, lightweight braceI have carpal tunnel in one wrist. It was particularly bad, so much so that I was worried I was having a heart attack or a had a spinal injury (shooting pains up and down my left arm all the way to my neck). My orthopedist suggested looking online for a brace because the ones they offer at his office are expensive and bulky.I originally started using my husband s brace that is designed to be used with either hand. It did not fit my hand well, but I was in such bad shape that it did help somewhat while I waited the two days for this brace to come in.This brace is lightweight and surprisingly comfortable. I wore it (I purchased two) about 23 hours a day for 9 weeks. My pain and numbness is now isolated to my wrist, thumb and first two fingers. At my orthopedist s direction, I have started only wearing the brace at night. While it did not cure my carpal tunnel as I had hoped (naive, I know), it is now at a bearable level. The brace is comfortable to wear and easy to put on.It does get dirty easily and shows every speck of anything as it s primarily white. I would love other color options, even crazy ones like pink, blue, etc. it s pretty boring when you have to wear it every day. 5Not good for wearing for more than an hour or so at a timeThis thing does a fair job, though I wish there were a way to shorten it so that the thumb hole lines up better without a lot of extra space. Apparently I have short forearms or something. However it does get uncomfortable after a bit if you're actually using your hand while wearing it - which, I mean, isn't that why you're wearing it? But if you're typing or something (which is the main reason I bought this brace), it starts digging in at the sides pretty quickly, and that's not very comfortable. I also think it should be in a darker color because it will show dirt very easily, yet isn't the easiest thing to wash. Still, for the low price, it does an okay job. 3Does the job; perfect for skinny hands and wristsI have spastic cerebral palsy and was given a wrist brace like this in my teen years to prevent "flopping" or over-bending of my wrist, as well as support since it's my weaker hand. I'm 28 now, so naturally I've grown out of it. I also have very skinny wrists, so I decided to give this one a try. I've worn it for about two hours and it does it's job and fits, which is all I wanted. But if you haven't worn different types of braces throughout your life and aren't used to the irritation that comes with them like me, there are a few things to note. Most people think they have to strap these things on tight short of cutting off their circulation and movement in order for them to work and that's where most of their irritation comes from. A good brace will still provide you with some movement - to a point. Think of this as breathing room. The problem lies when there's too much movement and breathing room and THAT'S when you have to tighten the straps. This brace provides all that. That being said, the most irritation, at least for me, comes from the seams on the top where one of the splints is sewn in, and between my thumb and index finger. Even though there's a piece of material inside to prevent that, I still had a little bit of redness and imprint, but it's nothing I haven't dealt with before, and in fact, expected it. For those who absolutely can't deal with any irritation at all (even as slight as this), I would suggest cutting up an old sock and sliding that on underneath the brace to act as a buffer. I always had some form of this with other braces I wore, and it helped a lot. Hope this review helps someone too! 4Close to PerfectHow I Use This: I bought this because I'm a 25 year old who spends a lot of time looking at the internet on my phone, as well as texting. Embarrassingly, I must admit that I was starting to get very, VERY sore wrists and hands and even pains down into my arms. It got to the point where I was doing tasks with my non-dominant hand to avoid the pain, until that hand started hurting too. So I bought two of these (the left and right hand versions) and wear them to sleep. While I can definitely report much less pain in my hands, I can't say for CERTAIN how much of that is due to this product, as I did, obviously, cut down on my phone usage too.Pros: As far as wrist supports go, this is attractive. There is memory foam like stuff on the inside, so it's very soft. It doesn't feel too hot/stuffy/itchy when you're wearing them. You can still move your fingers all around. In fact, I generally wear them when I know I'm going to be typing or doing something else that could strain my hands. I have teeny tiny hands, and although I do have to make them as tight as they can go, they fit me fine. My boyfriend even tried them on for fun and he was able to get them on his (much larger) hands too, so I think they would fit most women very well.Cons: I do wish the hard plastic support part on the top of the wrist was as firm as the one on the bottom of the wrist. Not that it isn't firm, but I think it could be firmer. For most people I think it will do just fine, but I think I've just personally managed to bend my wrist upwards just tad in this thing, simply because I manage to put my arms and wrists in some crazy positions when sleeping. As others have said, the velcro could be improved as well. It's not awful, even though I have had mine fewer than 6 weeks and it's already kinda iffy. I think they used a less coarse velcro simply because it is going on your hand area (less likely to catch fabrics and what not) so I am actually kind of thankful. I noticed others talked about sewing on a new piece, but obviously if you're wearing these sewing may not be the most comfortable activity. You could probably just use some fabric glue to replace it if you wanted. For now, though, mine is doing fine as it is (despite coming undone if I manage to move my arm the wrong way or something). 4
