My scale has a hard time getting a pulse reading ...My scale has a hard time getting a pulse reading. It takes two or three times to get the reading. When it does get a read it reads 20-50% lower then my actual heart rate. I'm in contact with Withings customer support but haven't had any luck with a solution.Update- Amazon replaced my faulty scale after I spent over two weeks emailing Withings. The replacement scale doesn't perform any better.Beware! Withings has an F rating with the BBB. 1MAJOR SOFTWARE FLAW... Self-updates and changes measurement units each time. Aargh!LATER 2017 - If you go up the customer service chain, they go from offering you a 25% discount on a replacement product to a 50% discount, but you have to send the other one back. I almost did it, but then thought, "Why am i paying $80 (the 50% off price) to replace a product that was defective from the moment i bought it?" The product works... So I'll live with it and having to change the measuring units every other day. But you are only as good as your satisfied customers... I will now explore other options/brands next time I buy a WiFi scale.2017 UPDATE: This device is great at syncing with my doctor, fitbit, myfitnesspal, etc... , but has a MAJOR SOFTWARE FLAW. It self-updates, and when it does this, it changes the measurements units. One week I have lbs, the next kilograms, the next STONES. You have to then physically change it back each time. I contacted customer support, and they actually admitted the defect after scanning my device, but only offer a 25% discount on replacement. Heck, I could get that from anybody. This is a manufacturing defect and THE DEVICE SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. I hope the company shows some integrity and replaces this item. Their customer service responds pretty quickly from their website.2015: Love this device. Tried a few of these, and was wondering if I wanted to fork out for this at $149. Still think the cost could be lower, but for me, it was worth the price. Having an online app and an android app that sync is awesome. It even syncs up to my livestrong.com i use for my diet. For the weight, it's the most accurate I've seen. I still wonder about the BMI numbers and such, as they don't seem to change even though I've lost 45 lbs since getting this scale. You step on the scale, and the numbers instantly are recorded online for you. I will compare your goals (weekly and long-term). It even shows the air quality in your bedroom and the projected weather... It also self-updates. Great device. Keeps me motivated on my diet.(See second post below) 1Horrible customer service.I cannot tell you why I'm so in love with having a scale keep track of my weight for me. However, I bought this 2nd scale for the first story of the house because I loved my first scale so much. However, 14 months after purchase it quit working. Completely dead and Withings will do nothing about it but tell me they are essentially disposable. I now have a $150 door holder in one bathroom and this 2nd scale is just a week or so old. Customer service like that needs to get rewarded. I immediately returned the 2nd scale, and if EVER asked about a Withings product, I can truthfully say, "they don't believe in their product so why on earth should I." Aria/Fitbit has been fabulous to me in regards to their fitbit product so I immediately jumped ship. This scale had a feature that the Aria didn't, but the last thing I need is another expensive toe stubber. 1And it doesn't have any other data measured like other $30 digital scalesI bought this scale over a year ago for the full price $150+, and i regret it almost every day when i weigh myself. The CO2 levels and temperature functions are no use to us. And it doesn't have any other data measured like other $30 digital scales, beside the body fat percentage. The worst is the heart rate measurement, it is super slow in reading and 9 out of 10 times it couldn't give a reading at all, i'd see a big X on the screen as if my heart is not beating... and the one time that it manages to read, my heart rate would be at 50 when my fitbit shows 74. Its app data is difficult to read as well, i have to use my fitbit app to track my weight and body fat datas from withings. 1Buyer Beware Short Life Span 11ms lack of customer service responseOverall I would give this a 5 star rating especially how it syncs with MyFitnessPal and FitBit,multiple user profiles etc. We purchased our Withings Scale from Amazon June 2013. During the 11 ms of use we have been very happy with it. We've replaced the batteries a few times but in May 2014 when we went to replace the batteries of our scale it did not turn back on and remains "dead". We've tried several different brands of new batteries as well and troubleshooting of holding in buttons to reset etc. Still it remains dead on my bathroom floor. Now I am using my 5+ year old $40 scale and entering data manually into apps. At this price point for a scale it is on the higher end naturally as a consumer I rationally expect a lot more than only 11 ms of use before it dies. We've contacted customer service 3 times since May to no avail. During the 11 ms we were able to use this we loved it and would love to give it 5 stars. We concur with all other reviews of its features and use out of the box and during its active 11 month life span.The 1 star rating is for the rapid obsolescence and lack of customer service support regarding this issue. As a consumer, at this price point I am baffled as it lies dead in our dressing area when side by side to my $40 scale that is still ticking after 6 years! If considering spending the $150 for a scale buyer beware you may be replacing this again in a year because customer service is near impossible to connect with to resolve. Extremely disappointing because I loved ours so much. Maybe our model was a manufacturing dud. Zero contact has been returned after 3 attempts of logging issue via their website. Due to this it has me not going back out and buying another Withings Scale. My 6 year old scale should not be outlasting Withings at a third of the price! 1Great scale while it lastedI purchased this scale 3 years ago. It worked well until the other day, when I needed to change the batteries, and it died.The company has been sold and re-acquired since then, so things may have changed, but I think the big issue is with the battery setup. It takes 4 AAA s, which needed to be changed more often than is reasonable. Hopefully they move toward lithium in the future.Because battery replacements were needed so frequently, I purchased rechargeable batteries, and unfortunately suspect that what killed it. I put them in, the screen flickered, and then went out. After that it didn t go on at all, even after inserting non-AAA s. In looking at their website, they do note that rechargables shouldn t be used, though IF (again, this is speculative) that is what caused the scale to break, I d say it reinforces the idea that there s room for improvement in the design, as I can t imagine I m the only one who tried that solution.While the scale worked, it did so quite well, and the app is easy to use - it s great to be able to track your weight and composition with minimal effort. Having worked for 3 years, that would make the cost about $33 per year, and I m fine with that price for the value received, but only if they have a refurbishment program...what I m not fine with is unnecessary waste. 3This $100+ product won't last long!!!This $100+ product won't last long!!!Mine was faied around 2 years. It's been a couple weeks since we got it, I waited a bit before reviewing to see if it would cause us any problems.For a long time I've wanted to track my weight each day because it doesn't matter to me if I go up or down every once in a while as long as the general trend is downward. It just wasn't working for me-- not only is it too much effort to have to try to log it into myfitnesspal every day on top of logging everything I've eaten, I was also having to use two scales and average the weights.So we have had two other scales, one digital and one analog, but both always read different from each other, and the digital one read within two pounds differently each time I'd step on it! It was ridiculous.We purchased this one as it was on sale during amazon prime day and I just got really sick of the other two. I can weigh myself several different times and once or twice there may be a decimal point difference in weight, but it is largely consistent.All of the functions have worked well for us in general with a couple hiccups. We currently have two users, but setting that up was far from intuitive. We had to do a lot of research online before figuring it out. To be honest, I can't even tell you how we did it, it was one of those situations where you fumble around until it works, and turn it off and turn it back on again several times. It was ridiculous. It might have just taken time to turn bluetooth off on one phone, turn it on the other, and let the scale sync. Works now though!There was one time it said it was going to rain but there was a clear day outside, however I can't fault my scale for having a wrong weather report when the weather man can't even always get it right.As far as I can tell, the air quality works. At night the CO2 goes up, and we were wondering why until we realized the scale is right outside our bedroom, where our two cats wait for us and sometimes meow and meow until we wake up. Only option is to throw it in the trash according to their customer support.I owned this scale for exactly 14 months before it broke down.One morning, I stepped on it and the screen stayed blank. I changed the batteries, still nothing. I emailed customer service and, after asking me to check the batteries and the connectors, they told me my scale was dead and I should just toss it as it is covered for only 12 months.They don't offer repair, more advanced troubleshooting, swap, spare parts... With Withings, when it stops working, there is nothing else to do but to throw it in the trash and buy a new one.I don't need to spend another $250 for a device that keeps on reminding me I am overweight. And, because it is Wi-Fi connected and keeps track of your weight, the WS-50 also reminds you you are not doing anything about it.I must add that I didn't 'break' the scale or exposed it to excess humidity or anything else. It really just died on his own. 1Not recommendedI liked this scale at first. I've had the scale less than 1 1/2 years and the weight varies constantly. This morning it said I weighed 7 lbs. That is pretty common. I gave it time to reset and then it read my weight. Yes, the batteries have been changed. This morning while weighing myself, in 13 minutes of weighing, I lost almost a pound. Would not recommend this scale.Been in contact with Customer Support. It's out of warranty and they're offering me a 25% discount. Why would I want to pay another $100 (after a discount) for another scale that won't work after 1 1/2 years?Just beware of this item. 1
